Information Desired about These Photos, Is The Story True?
The great White Hunter ^ | 2/9/10 | Ryan Benson

The great White Hunter has a question he needs answered. His father sent him these pictures and told him that the owner of the dog came home to find that a fawn was laying on his couch next to his dog.

They figure that the fawn followed the dog into the house through the doggy door and just made himself at home by getting up on the couch to take a nap with the dog.

The Great White Hunter wants to know if the story related to him by his father is true. If it is true, then he would like to know if anyone knows what the real story behind the photo is. You can go to his blog The Great White Hunter, and leave him a comment as to the actual story behind the friendly intruder.

I guess the dog is either a beagle or a daschund. Maybe even a mix of the two, but the fawn cannot be that big, I can see the thing crawling through a doggy door.

When I was younger I had a friend who woke up and found some raccoons making themselves at home in their kitchen. They figured that the coons came through the doggy door that was left unlocked. They learned to lock it at night after that. Raccoons can be quite dangerous and it took a neighbor friend of his dad who worked for the dog pound to get them out of their house.

They left quite the mess in their once very well stocked pantry as I recall. It was quite the stir in the neighborhood back then in 1964 when my family still lived in the outskirts of Cincinnati.

I’ve got friends whose cats invite racoons in for dinner occasionally. Funniest thing in the world to watch.

I got those pictures from a friend in the Washington, DC area and the sender said it had been on the news. Supposedly somewhere in Maryland.

It could be true. If this is true...

Three cheetahs spare tiny antelope's life... and play with him instead

A human picked it up and brought it home.

A fawn that young stays put where the doe sets it and will not get up until it's mom comes back to get it after grazing.

That story was true. They did ‘play’ with the antelope, right up until they ate it.

It is not uncommon for dogs and deer to bond. Or, for that matter, humans and deer. It has to begin soon after the deer is born. I searched for video and did not find anything specific to this story, however I did find this. http://www.deepcreektimes.com/potmjuly.html

He took the fawn to the edge of the woods where he believes he might have met the dog. Upon return a little later, the fawn was gone.

Why does that just not sound right? Seems to me they just abandoned the fawn to the wild. The chances of its mother finding it are slim to none. Most likely the fawn has become lunch for some wild dogs, or coyotes instead.

Thanks, did you leave a comment with the link for The Great White Hunter on his blog where I found this?

Yup, the dog is a Beagle and they will do stuff like that just to piss you off. Very smart dogs with a perverse sense of humor. Mine got out the other day and came home carrying some thong underwear in his mouth. I am not going to ask the neighbors and so far the dog has not offered any clues on the ownership of the undies.
