nationally-known

If you want to credit McCain w/'nationally known' go ahead but you can't credit him with Sarah being 'nationally liked'!

If I typed that I apologize for the mistake. I didn't think I did. And it's completely beside the point.

Darkwolf377: “I’m only saying that to deny that his (McCain’s) choosing her (Palin) is what made her nationally-known is retarded. “

There’s no doubt you are correct. I had heard of her before the nomination, but the vast majority of folks didn’t have a clue who Sarah Palin was UNTIL Juan McPain nominated her.

I guess you just don’t understand the animosity that many of us have for Juan McPain

I've been here since 2001 (I slightly changed my screenname because the one with an extra letter was clogged with unwanted pinglists), so I understand. But if we can forgive Ronald Reagan for his support for abortion at one time, his signing an amnesty bill (and choosing Rudy Giuliani, who some equally despise) later in his career, we certainly can forgive Palin for campaigning for the guy who helped her become a household word.

McCain has done some things I applaud as well. I prefer J.D. by a mile, but no, I don't hate McCain, and I don't use childish play on the names of former P.O.W.'s, either.

And that’s ALL I’m saying. I didn’t think it was so controversial—do we so hate McCain that we can’t even credit him with that perfectly-obvious fact?

There are your words 'nationally-known'. Being 'nationally-liked' is why he NEEDS Sarah's support. He ASKED for it because he NEEDS it! 'Nationally' McCain is NOT LIKED.

Why are people angry at Palin campaigning for McCain? They seem to have created their own Palin according to their own idea of who a Sarah Palin is. According to this idea, Sarah Palin is 100% principled, anti-RINO conservative and well informed, so she would not have agreed to campaign for McCain. Well, she did agree to be his running mate, didn’t she? Or perhaps she didn’t know about McCain at the time? Then, she probably was not that well informed about national politics. Or, probably she has never been so conservative and anti-RINO as some people project her to be in the first place.

My own take is that Palin is a conservative, but she sees that the way things done is by sometimes making coalition with other people who share at least some part of her beliefs. Returning a favor, putting her in national spot, is another way to see why she agrees to campaign for him.

Yes--there are my words, 'nationally-known'. Why are you being so silly about this?

I don’t hate McCain either. It’s possible to oppose someone and what they stand for without hating them. Do I respect his service? Yes, I think I do. Does that mean he deserves a pass for all the many, many times he’s helped Democrats take this country down a path that’s frankly un-American? No, it does not.

If I met McCain tomorrow, I’d be polite. I’d also vote against him in a heartbeat. He doesn’t deserve a bit of our support, not one bit!

As for having some fun with his name, it’s not a sign of hatred or disrespect for his service as it is a play on his political stances. He’s called Juan, because he’ll do everything he can to give amnesty to illegals. He’s McPain, because of the copious amounts of pain he gives conservatives.

I’ll cheer if we retire him in 2010. Sarah Palin notwithstanding, McCain is definitely NOT the type of leader we need in Washington.

You're off your rocker.

I was MOCKING you, you utter fool--I never said anything about "liked".

I have been talking ONLY about McCain making her nationally KNOWN.

Are you completely stupid, or simply looking for an argument because you can't stand the fact that Palin would still be unknown to the nation without the FACT that McCain made her nationally KNOWN?

Your People magazine arguing about "liked" is not the subject at hand. You're just pissy because Palin is loyal to someone who she owes, and you can't abide that she lives in reality while you live in your childishly pure fantasy world.

YOU stop with your crap already--I didn't think I typed LIKED--and I DIDN'T.

Clear enough for you? If not, I couldn't care less.

If you're an example of the typical Palin supporter, God help her.

The state run media disagrees with you - they loved him while Bush was President. Since then they put him back in the toybox. They love those back stabbing RINO'S toys!

I, like many here, am torn with this wrong-headed decision to support McLame

I don't think less of her as a person but I am extremely disappointed.

I am hoping against hope that there is not more to this move than simply loyalty to McLame, though he has not always been in the forefront and vocal in defending her when his former advisers where tearing her a new one.

If we were to learn that there was any type of quid pro quo for her campaigning for him, it would drive a wedge between her and her supporters from which I doubt she could recover.

Meanwhile, I'll reserved judgment and let's wait and see how this plays out, especially in light of J.D's announcement yesterday, which could have some impact!

I think disappointment is the key word for most of us. JD hasn’t officially thrown his hat into the ring. Also, he was known to be a pork king while in Congress.

But, this doesn’t diminish my support for Sarah. When, and if she runs, she’ll run on her conservative values. Having said that, she may have to choose a RINO on the ticket in order to win the NE. None of those states will ever vote for a strict conservative Republican, but, might if a moderate were on the ticket. It didn’t help McCain, of course, but, that was for other reasons.
