Appomattox Virginia was the scene of a shooting this afternoon when one lone gunman, now identified as Appomattox resident Christopher Speight, 39, shot one man at first near Route 703 on Snapps Mill Road. (see a photo of Christopher Speight)
Speight then went on to shoot eight people. Over 100 law enforcement officials surrounded the suspect in a wooded area.

Old Chris is going to suffer a death of 100 shots from Glock 21 .45 ACPs.
I grew up in Appomattox, VA. Spout Spring is on the west side out routes 24/460. My folks house was in Vera which was out 24 east and north just past the Surrender Grounds. Route 24 was the old Richmond-Lynchburg stage coach road during Civil War times. My Dads Texaco sat on the old road and our house was just off the road. Needless to say we dug up a lot of artifacts (minnie balls, unexploded cannon shells, a bayonet, lots of buttons including some with pieces of gray uniform still attached). Where we lived was where the Confederates encamped before the surrender.
Ping.
That bayonet is worth some bucks. Lucky dog you.
My liberal brother got it when we settled the estate. He gave (gave) it to one of his students........... (insert tears)
Hardly any comments about 8 people getting murdered. Are we becoming that complacent about mass murders any more?
He wasn’t Amish.
