The reason this problem exists for tea party members is that with a non-Democrat in the seat, Senator Harry Reid would not have the 60-vote filibuster-proof majority he is enjoying right now. Unfortunately, there are some problems with the Republican candidate Scott Brown such as the fact he voted for RomneyCare.
RomneyCare is socialized medicine for Massachusetts. Worse, Brown is certainly not the kind of limited-government, fiscally conservative candidate about which tea party members are so keen. Rather, he is a typical big-government Republican.
The tea party movement nationwide is obsessed with ObamaCare and wishes to do everything it can to stop it. This is where they come into a bit of a problem. There is a tea party candidate running as an independent. He is confusingly and ironically named Kennedy (Joe), although he is not related to the clan at all. He is a conservative who believes in limited government the type of candidate that most tea party types across the land profess to want to see elected. (Here is a good examination of how they differ on the important issues of the day.)

One can only hope that Mr. Brown has seen the error of his ways and realizes that Romneycare is a farce.
Kennedy is a modern Don Qixote. If Coakley wins by 3 percent or less, it will be beacause of him.
Kennedy is no tea party candidate. He is a life-long dem who recently decides he is an independent (not Libertarian as he claims). Don’t be fooled by what he says now, he is just a Trojan horse.
The Tea Party Express, which is comprised of groups like Free Republic, Campaign for Liberty, Grassfire, and ResistNet have endorsed Scott Brown.
And Joseph L. Kennedy is really forgettable.
My friends in Mass. tell me the same thing.
He’s from Massachusetts. Of course he’s a Liberal. But he’s not Martha Coakley.
Huge payoff for Conservatives and Tea Party supporters. In many ways, this is not about supporting Scott Brown. It's about opposing the Democrats.
I'm pretty much a purist, and I don't want to support RINIOs. But I say that Scott Brown deserves my vote.
Hopefully some of the idiot Mass libs will look at the ballot and think “whoa, I didnt realize a Kennedy was running!” and vote for him.
The seat has been occupied by a Kennedy since what, 1953?
I beg anyone and everyone in Massachusetts who cares about liberty and stopping Obamacare: vote for Scott Brown. Do not waste your vote on the pseudo-Libertarian Kennedy.
And be sure to drag your family and friends to the polls for Scott Brown. The Democratic machine will be voting cemeteries, parking lots, and non-existent addresses. Fight back against this Democratic corruption.
Are the folks at Pajamasmedia stupid? Are they in league with the democrat party? Kennedy is a leftist ringer. Associating clowns like this with the Tea Party movement is the fastest way to kill the Tea Party movement.
If they don’t know that much, they can’t be taken seriously on anything.
Actually, Scott Brown is very conservative for New England standards. He has never voted for a tax increase in the State Senate; is strong on national defense; and he opposes Obamacare. On social issues, Scott opposes partial birth abortion and strongly supports parental notification.
That’s been my thought also.
Does MA have a “straight party” choice on the ballot? If so, I believe that would hurt Brown.
I don't know anything about Kennedy and am not endorsing him. It's the Brown comments that are interesting.
The Tea Party Express, which is comprised of groups like Free Republic, Campaign for Liberty, Grassfire, and ResistNet have endorsed Scott Brown.
Brown has to be better than Mutha Coakley but is apparently another lesser-evil choice.
Considering the fixation on Romney-Care here, this should be known of Brown.
Dodge speaks only for Dodge.
That will happen. Coakley made a big mistake including him in the debates
Kennedy is right on spending and wrong on the war. He is an isolationist that sounds great on paper until you find out its a dangerous world. Basically a Paulite.
Pray for America and Scott Brown
To get Brown in Kennedy's seat would be a major victory and not the lesser of two evils.
This is always the case unless you are a groupie or one of the candidates.
And I take it as reality that it shouldn't matter as much as it does who is in office. Cut government down to size and it won't so much matter.
