Don't look now, but Republican Scott Brown leads Democrat Martha Coakley by one point, 48 to 47 percent, in Public Policy Polling's new poll of the January 19 special Senate election in Massachusetts.
Brown is benefiting from depressed Democratic interest in the election and a huge lead among independents for his surprisingly strong standing. Those planning to vote in the special election only report having voted for Barack Obama in 2008 by a 16 point margin, in contrast to his actual 26 point victory in the state.

Blacks wont be showing up to vote for some honky white lady Nor will the seniors. I doubt most college-age folks will either... "It's too cold"... "I had class and forgot"... "Coakley? Who is she?"... and the like.

Funny, but Ive never looked at it as a quest for power. I always looked at it as doing the right things for my country. Well, all due respect, that's very poetic. But power is necessary in achieving that, even if it's simply to deny power to those who don't share your goals. If they don't have the ball, someone has to.

I gave to his campaign yesterday. I hope this nationwide support gives him a healthy boost to ride this tide.

Poll conducted Jan 2-6...it’s politically ancient especially given Brown’s very recent surge.

Hes gonna need more than 1 point to overcome the fraud. At least 15 would be my guess.

I agree.......we need to help him stretch that lead as much as possible.

Most MA citizens are fed up with ‘tax & spend’ Duval Patrick & he’s long been Obama’s model & mentor.....
Duval’s unfavorability has probably been helping Scott Brown.

If you find out pls let me know. It was very small though & a full 6% voted for the pullout. The difference was 3% before they started finding all the republican votes. I have no doubt that race was stolen.
They couldn’t allow the conservative movement to get that momentum. It would have been HUGE.
It was huge anyway. To be a few hundred votes from something like that. It WAS stolen.

Well, he sounds like he might be somewhat of a RHINO. Perhaps conservative on Fiscal and national defense, but perhaps liberal on social issues. That’s okay by me because that is probably about the best we can hope to get in Mass....
Sounds like he will not break the fillibuster on health care and thats what would be most important right now. I’m not getting my hopes up that he can win there. I think it might be close, but Coakley will probably win. Best we can probably hope for is a close vote with recounts which could take a long time, therefore denying them their 60th vote to stop the fillibuster. That could go on for months....

It had Hoffman up by a bunch in NY23 three days before the election. That poll was conudcted before the endorsement of the Democrat.
