Although violent crime is down across the country, gangs are not participating in this welcome trend but are escalating their presence and violence as noted by law enforcement from the East to West Coasts which identifies street gangs as the number one threat to public safety:
*** In Syracuse, NY Police Chief Gary Miguel identifies gang violence as the top challenge: "Cities have to deal with the increase in the number of shootings the number of homicides by gun. Young people, primarily, are becoming involved in street gangs and all the violence and drug dealing that are related to that."
*** District Attorney Jeff Reisig contends that street gangs are "the single biggest threat to public safety in Yolo County," CA:
Reisig has directed his piercing gaze at the estimated 1,600 street gang members who he says are terrorizing portions of his jurisdiction between the Sacramento River and the hills below Lake Berryessa. * * * "You've got all these serious violent felonies, you've got dead cops, you've got drugs on the street, and it's all tied to criminal street gangs," he said.
*** In Tracy, CA law enforcement announces new initiatives to confront street gangs "in response to a surge of deadly gang violence and rabid public outrage against it": "a recent outbreak of gun violence between warring Norteño and Sureño gangs forced administrators to act."
*** Erik B. Wallin, the Republican candidate for Rhode Island's Attorney General, promises to tackle the street gang problem in his state if elected.

The gang in DC is enough to deal with.
Immigration, legal and illegal, is the main reason gang activity is up.
Gee, I wonder why one never hears of gang violence in Switzerland?
Nice Blog — I wish I could easily cross-post this article to the attention of our Guardian Angels Facebook group. My Brethren-of-the-Wing would find it most interesting, even though it would confirm what they already suspect.
Keep up the good work — I shall visit your blog frequently.

All those people asking why this kid without a bad background gets killed and the answer is right in front of them.
If you have a gathering and the music playing is gangsta rap, someone is going to get offended and someone else is going to get hurt.
America has got to stop glorifying this thug culture. If you see it coming into your house, squash it immediately. We as a nation didn’t and now we bear the problems of it for God knows how long.
Also if you were ever on the fence about illegal immigration from down south, keep in mind that half of all gang members are Latino.
“Immigration, legal and illegal, is the main reason gang activity is up.”
That’s a fact.
“Also if you were ever on the fence about illegal immigration from down south, keep in mind that half of all gang members are Latino.”
I think you may be low on your assessment. I think it is greater than 50%. In Chicago, for instance, Latino gangs greatly outnumber any other ethnic gang. In California, Latino gangs make up about 85% of all gang activity, as is also the case in Florida.
When the gang starts in your part of town, take them out one by one. Why don’t people take care of thier own?
Vigilantes must do the work if it is to be done at all.
The cops are reactionary, citizens must be proactive and alert.
be stealthy and get it done for crying out loud.
You can thank a dem for that...
They should refer to them as terrorists, that is what they are.
No you can thank both parties since the passage of the 1965 Immigration Act. Bush 43 was pro-amnesty and anti enforcement. Reagan signed the one-time amnesty in 1986. Bush 41 doubled the legal immigration quotas. Plenty of blame to go around.
As much as I miss alot living in a rural area; we can't bring ourselves to move back towards the city. Hasn't been a murder here in almost 30 years and that guy was drowned in the river by his drunk buddies. No locked doors, no keys outta vehicles, and everybody has sidearms on their belts during the warm weather.
Is the gang problem as bad in areas with shall issue CCW?
