FIRST OF ALL THE WITNESSES ARE NOT A CULT. THAT OPINION WAS FORMED BY SOMEONE THAT OBVIOUSLY FEELS THREATNED BY THE TRUTH.IT AMAZES ME THAT WHENEVER A WITNESS DOES SOMETHING WRONG IT MAKES THE FRONT PAGE OF THE NEWS! IF A BABTIST OR PROTESTANT DOES SOMETHING WRONG IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR RELIGION. AND THIS BIG COVER UP GARBAGE IS A JOKE. ADMITTEDLY THEY ARE NOT PERFECT NOR CLAIM TO BE. MATT 24:9 SAYS THAT WE WOULD BE OBJECTS OF HATRED ON ACCOUNT OF HIS NAME. WHAT OTHER RELIGION IS HATED ON ACCOUNT OF HIS NAME? ONLY 1 THAT I CAN THINK OF THE WITNESSES PROUDLY GLORIFY JEHOVAHS NAME. ALSO WE ARE NOT PROGRAMMED. WE HAVE FREE WILL,GOD DOES NOT WANT ROBOTS, THAT IS WHY HE GAVE ADAM AND EVE FREE WILL. AND WE DO BELIEVE IN JESUS. HE IS GODS SON AND HE DID GIVE HIS LIFE FOR OUR SINS. I ALSO GET A KICK OUT OF THOSE WHO TELL US WHAT WE BELIEVE, ESPECIALLY IF IT ISN'T TRUE. PEOPLE JUST MAKE UP WHAT THEY WANT ABOUT THE WITNESSES AND THE NAIVE ONES BELIEVE IT. IF IT IS TRUE THEN LOOK INTO WHY WE BELIEVE WHAT WE DO. DONT JUST ASSUME TO KNOW EVERYTHING THAT THEY TEACH OR BELLIEVE BASED ON SOMEONE ELSE'S OPINION. TALK ABOUT HAVING A MIND OF YOUR OWN!!
That's not hard to do at all!
I probably have some that don't even know of others that EXIST!
That makes no sense at all.
Why don’t you elaborate on the cultic beliefs
of Jehovah’s Witnesses more fully? Tell us what
else you believe of Jesus Christ.
Do you agree with this statement:
“JWs believe that Jesus Christ was a perfect man, and that He is a person distinct from God the Father. However, they also teach that before His earthly life, Jesus was a spirit creature, Michael the archangel, who was created by God and became the Messiah at His baptism. According to Jehovahs Witnesses, Jesus is a mighty one, although not almighty as Jehovah God is. According to John 1:1 in their Bible, The New World Translation, Christ is a god, but not the God. They teach that Jesus was and is and always will be beneath Jehovah and that Christ and God are not coequal.
If not, where do you disagree?
Gee, funny how they never taught me that one during my years of Bible study with them. Guess they just forgot.
Then your 'knowledge' is limited.
ALL Christians KNOW (or should) that they will be opposed!
Must be a miracle.
Okay!
“Gee, funny how they never taught me that one during my years of Bible study with them. Guess they just forgot.”
guess you joined after 1953...
It is noted for the record. Also noted is that you skipped
over the entire post, except for that.
Jehovah's Witnesses read in the foreword of NWT (1984 edition) these comforting words:
"It is a very responsible thing to translate the Holy Scriptures from their original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek into modern speech....The translators of this work, who fear and love the Divine Author of the Holy Scriptures, feel toward Him a special responsibility to transmit his thoughts and declarations as accurately as possible."
So where do the NWT 'translators' get permission to ADD words to Scripture?
it’sfixednow
Just wait...
Deconstructing Linus: Portrait of a True Believing Pumpkinist as a Young Man "Each year on Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere and flies through the air with his pack of toys for all the good little children in the world." No. This is about sincerity, a subjective standard by any definition. I wonder if Linus blames himself every year for not picking the most sincere pumpkin patch for his vigil? I wonder if other Great Pumpkinists castigate Linus by asserting if he were more in tune with the Spirit of the Great Pumpkin, if he were more prayerful, if he read the Holy Writ of the Great Pumpkin with a greater sincerity, that he could indeed rise to the challenge and, via the Spirit, be lead to choose the most sincere pumpkin patch? I wonder how many years Linus will feel guilty for this failure and blame himself for receiving no answer no matter how sincere he believes himself to be? I wonder if Linus ever gets frustrated because there is no objective way to measure sincerity? And if he realizes there is no objective standard for such a thing, I wonder if it ever creeps into his mind that his annual mission is nothing more than mindless busywork? I wonder, does Linus ever has doubts? There is no room for doubt when one is a Great Pumpkinist. One should never say if the Great Pumpkin comes but always when the Great Pumpkin comes. "One little slip like that, can cause the Great Pumpkin to pass you by!" Its hard to imagine a benevolent icon such as the Great Pumpkin punishing TBPs (True Believing Pumkinists) for such a minor infraction, but there you have it.
"I was robbed! I spent the whole night waiting for the Great Pumpkin when I could have been out for tricks or treats! Halloween is over and I missed it! You blockhead! You kept me up all night waiting for the Great Pumpkin and all that came was a beagle!" Luckily for Sally, she only missed one Halloween. And though she is demanding restitution, because her participation was voluntary, she will never receive said restitution. Shell simply have to accept the experience as one of lifes absurdities and move on. After all, fantastic claims should be supported by fantastic evidence, right? The question now becomes, has this experience made Linus a skeptic? After yet again not having his Pumpkin Patch recognized as sincere and after having endangered his friendship with Sally, will he continue to believe? In spite of a complete and utter lack of evidence pointing to the existence of the Great Pumpkin, and a complete and utter lack of the Great Pumpkins Promise ever having been fulfilled, Linus is a True Believing Pumpkinist to the core. To even admit the possibility that he may be wrong would be to negate all those years of hard work and sincere belief. Linus simply cannot turn his back on his belief.

Actually, I have the New World Translation right here. This is exactly what John 1:1 states....
In (the) beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God , and the Word was a god....
Now John 1:2-3.....
This one was in (the) beginning with God. All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence.
If you have the New World Translation there with you, could you tell me in which Book, chapter and verse, it states they believe Christ was Michael?
OK, let's run this by you real slow:
Jesus as man:
Christians believe that? (check)
You and I believe that? (check)
JWs believe that? (check)
(So no "false witness...shame on you" there, correct?)
Jesus as Michael the angel:
Christians believe that? (No, though many Christian theologians believe that in some of the Old Testament theophanies the "angel of the Lord" is the pre-incarnate Christ)
JWs believe that? (Yes)
Quote with source for this:
This scripture therefore suggests that Jesus himself is the archangel Michael...the Bible speaks of both Michael and his angels and Jesus and his angels. (Matthew 13:41) Since Gods Word nowhere indicates that there are two armies of faithful angels in heavenone headed by Michael and one headed by Jesusit is logical to conclude that Michael is none other than Jesus Christ in his heavenly role.
Source: Who is Michael the Archangel?
Jesus as a god?
Christians believe that? (No -- not "a" god -- for that would make "2" gods -- but is THE God from eternity past...though they believe Jesus is NOT the Father -- distinct persons -- they believe Jesus shares the divine nature and is so intimate with the Father they are One in that shared nature)
JWs believe that? (Yes)
Quote: As already noted, Jesus is a god in the sense of being divine, but he is not the Father
Source: Those Who are Called Gods http://watchtower.org/e/20050422/article_03.htm
So, if you ask JWs who the Supreme God is, they'll tell you Jehovah God.
But then if you ask them if they think Jesus is a god, they'll say, "Yes, but He is not Jehovah God."
Well, that means that if Jesus is not the supreme God, but is a god, that he's some sort of a "lesser" or "semi" god. (I expect an apology from you)
Then your 'knowledge' is limited.
ALL Christians KNOW (or should) that they will be opposed!
Sorry, but I don't think a "keyboard crusader" suffices.
If the Witness put out lies in their own material, that is on them, not me. As it is I am a first source kind of guy, so that is usually all I have to go on.
Perhaps better editing?
Wow, these guys are almost as much fun as the LDS...
If you bothered to read any of my posts, you will see that I had Bible studies with them, for which I am very grateful.
You're going back to 1953?? How about those Catholics?? The Inquisition? Martin Luther? The pervy priests having their way with little boys? I don't see you throwing them under the bus.
Why are you so anti-witness, but not a peep in regards to the catholics?
I know, I'm opening a can of worms here, but if you can "go back in time" to desecrate one religion, then heck, lets put them ALL up for such harsh treatment. Let's see which one would be the last one standing.
"So where do the NWT 'translators' get permission to ADD words to Scripture?"
Where do you see ADD?
NGZ,
1. I included it because it demonstrates how wacky the Jehovah’s Witness beliefs are. It is historically accurate.
I STILL notice that you ignore 96% of my post so you could
complain about this...
2. This is a thread about Jehovah’s Witnesses, started by
one of their number. It is not about any other topic. Good
try.
Since revealing this about the cult gets your panties in a twist,
why don’t you go back and pick another of the BIZARRE beliefs
and focus on telling us why it isn’t bizarre?
You do know what the topic of this thread is...?
