Watching the video of Sarah Palins appearance with William Shatner on the Conan OBrien Show, the one word that came to mind was style. Yet, there was more to it than that.
After all, she entered the arena of late night television, a stage that has excoriated her routinely - the enemy camp as Chris Matthews might say. She has been scoffed at before by OBrien. The show has featured William Shatner mocking Palins tweets by reading them as dramatic recitations.
Still, Palin ...

OK, “lah vee”.
I’m gonna hurl...
Annie Oakley was an international star. If you read the article the title was Sophisticated Sarah comparing her to Sophia Loren, Katharine Hepburn and Margaret Thatcher.
What is about these women that you don’t like?
You’re obviously irrational.
Why?
Because the Palin worship is giving me diabetes.
What about the sheer unwarranted hatred of Palin? It seems to me one is needed to balance the other.
In other words...she’s Sarah Palin.
Leave the other names off this lady. She’s her own woman filled with the Spirit of the Lord!
Well, then you’d be wrong.
Supporters can’t decipher the difference between legitimate criticism and an ad hominim. That’s a problem because you will ignore the legitimate until it barrels over you like a steamroller.
“Shes her own woman filled with the Spirit of the Lord!”
And she’s on a mission from GOD!
So camparing her to Reagan would be wrong?
So commenting about someone’s positive attributes by analogy to other people is wrong?
It is an interesting - and I would say unique - perspective.
You’re sort of like the flipside of Lady Pilgrim who says she is filled with the spirit of the Lord.
Amazing isn’t it. The very people who want to destroy her are using her in promos.
Wonder when Letterman will get around to inviting her if he hasn’t already.
You are aware how she died, right?
Comparing her is different than calling her a female Reagan.
She has a lot of his same thoughts concerning this country, but she’s still Sarah Palin.
Not Ronald Reagan.
I have a lot of Jim Rob’s thoughts, but I’m not him. Or a second him.
So, yes, you can compare, Mr. Tell 2. :-)
Thank you ma’am
Letterman is drooling to have her on, he’s publicly invited her several times after he smeared her underage daughter on his show in an attempt to appear fair and reasonable and blunt the criticism. He’d have her on in a heartbeat but he’s turned into such a vile, angry, hateful person with some horrendous skeletons in his own closet that I cannot imagine she would ever do it.
You’re mighty welcome, Mr. Tell 2! :-)
God bless you and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Sarah’s a sure shot,
0bama’s sure not!
I didn’t see the part Mr Ed part.
