It certainly did not take a long time for one of the world's greatest athletes to fall from grace. Just a few weeks ago, the only news Tiger Woods made was on the golf course.
Then suddenly, everything changed. In one incredible, tragic moment, Woods became persona non grata. How did this fall from grace occur? Why did this shining star in the world of professional sports virtually destroy his career and marriage in one fell swoop?
Because he could.
Propped up by celebrity, ego massagers and roadies, Woods could get anything and everything he wanted in an easily accessible manner.
And apparently what he wanted, was women. Many, many women. Some of whom he may have paid for. In so doing, he destroyed his marriage and tarnished his reputation as this squeaky clean, all American guy who just loved the game of golf.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Whether it be in politics, business, entertainment or sports. When one reaches a certain stage where God-given talents become an enabler of undesirable behavior, temptation is irresistible. And it doesn't help that those that Woods surrounded himself with probably didn't try to stop his self-destruction.
The fallout from this is that his wife Elin will probably divorce him, and take him to the cleaners in the process. She has reportedly already spoken to a divorce attorney, while at the same time purchasing a home on an island in Sweden only accessible by boat.
Big sponsors such as Gillette and AT&T are deserting Woods and rightly so. They cannot be associated with a philanderer, perhaps even a sex addict. It will be interesting to see how his behavior will affect his career, such as it now stands.
It is theoretically possible for Tiger Woods to rebuild himself. Other high profile individuals have recovered from scandals involving sex, drugs and alcohol. But the degree to which Woods sank, especially with the number of women who have come forward to say they were involved with him, including some with whom he reportedly engaged in sex acts in exchange for money, means he has a tough road to hoe.
And this may require him to disappear for a long, long time.

kinda like the odumbo meltdown
Question: Does Tiger do good things with his money??I never hear about it if he does.
Propped up by roadies? That’s what I want to be—to be propped up by roadies.
His fame and money made it easy for him but I bet the foundation of the drive behind his behavior was laid before he hit the national scene.
This thing reminds me of the Anita Hill Clarence Thomas “affair”.
I remember Rush saying he had lunch with an older woman while this thing was going on and the woman said Anita was lying. Rush asked her how she knew. Her answer was simple and I paraphrase the best I can remember:
Where are the other women? Men like this do not do this with only one woman. If Anita were telling the truth we would have many more women coming forward, especially considering the politics involved.
Tiger is proving that woman’s position.
It looks like Tiger has been a lowlife for a looooong time. The only difference is now we all know about it.
I’ve heard it said that for every ten men that can cope with failure, only one can cope with success.
Yes, and that is how he will come back....by doing CHARITABLE WORK.....just like the other sex addit, Clinton, has his Global Initiative doing “Charitable (cough)” things.
Or a narcissistic sociopath...
It may be part of the "Tiger Woods persona" but there is the Tiger Woods Foundation, set up in '96. According to their web site, it has done lots of good -- how Tiger will ever explain to those kids how he got so far away from the principles he proclaimed will be very interesting. I pray for him and all those whose lives he hurt.
“Ive heard it said that for every ten men that can cope with failure, only one can cope with success.”

I know dozens of successful men who can cope with their success.
At least to the point of not being a serial adulterer.
While there's a tendency to say, "Why this irrational dumping on Tiger?" the fact is that the reason he made 900 million in endorsements is because of an irrational interest in him by mega-companies and fans. That sword cuts both ways.
The lesson of this, although many won't learn it, is that everything you see in the media is a story. It's massaged, manipulated and spun to produce the desired effect. The only thing we know about Woods for real is that he is an excellent golfer. The pulling back of the curtain reveals a very different individual, and it only took one story to unravel the entire facade.
There are plenty of wealthy successful men who don’t cheat on their wives. You don’t even have to be either to cheat, unless your spouse has you in lock-down. Most people don’t because they have higher standards than people like Tiger Woods even though lots of people are working hard to normalize infidelity.
...means he has a tough road to hoe
This saying drives me crazy. Who hoes a road? It's a tough ROW to hoe!
Do a search and replace on that article and replace “Tiger Woods” with “Bill Clinton” and see if there is one word that needs to be changed?
Oh yea, there is one change. Wood’s wife may walk out on him while old thunder thighs stayed hitched.
I should have selected my words more carefully. I left out the key word: Sudden
I was talking about sudden failure or sudden success. In fact, even failure is not the precise word. More like “calamaty” - losing your home in a flood, your wife, a child, etc.
Tiger wend to wild success quite rapidly. My brother in law had the same experience and he did fine, but it also happened for him later in life. Youth has a lot to do with it, I think. I do not judge Tiger (all have sinned), but one thing’s for sure, he is no longer a good role model for kids.
At least he didn't ask him to "tow the line."
...means he has a tough road to hoeThis saying drives me crazy. Who hoes a road? It's a tough ROW to hoe!
Hey, trying to hoe a road, especially a paved one is a lot harder than hoeing a row in a field! Well, unless you're using a backhoe with one of those jackhammer attachments, in which case it would actually be pretty easy to "hoe a road."

Rich and famous = Not having to worry about those things related to only common people.
But as it turns out he is nothing more than a common slug cheating on his wife.
To his wife, Take as much as you can from him and run as fast as you can. He will never ever change.
