In her 2006 run for governor, Sarah Palin took advantage of public uproar over Frank Murkowskis expensive state-purchased jet which had become emblematic of the waste and abuse of good-old-boy politics. She said the governor didnt need it. And as soon as she got elected, she sold it.
In the run-up to 2012, Palin perhaps has found a similar object of public distain to use to her advantage should she run for president: The much-ridiculed teleprompter.
In what had to be a blow to teleprompter manufacturers everywhere, the former governor and now best-selling author spoke to a large audience in Hollister, Mo. this past week equipped only with a few notes and her convictions.
In a basketball gymnasium packed with more than 5,000 supporters, Palin delivered a stirring hour-long speech about patriotism and public service that earned multiple standing ovations. In expressing her common sense conservative message, she started by sharing her belief that we are all created with purpose, and that we must "keep our eyes open for signposts" that will guide us to our life's mission. She quoted Martin Luther King, Junior, saying, "Discover what you were made to do," and then recounted her own calling to public service with local government, which she called a great training ground for national leaders. She encouraged others to serve locally, even if it didn't seem glamorous. She confessed her "inner nerd" when it came to poring over budgets and making decisions in the public's best interests. "In local politics, your constituents are your neighbors. You see them at the grocery store. That is why local government is the most responsive."
Her remarks flowed naturally from an internalized script. She delivered the whole oration and powerful conclusion with the passion and charisma of a natural leader.
And, no teleprompter was required.

The revolution will not be teleprompted.
Any relation to Ann?
Chortle!
To be “smart” enough to constantly need a teleprompter, you need to have attended Haaaar-vard.
Plus of course you need a Haaaar-vard degree in order to be smart enough to be able to screw up so royally that you saddle Americans with a jaw-dropping, record, federal deficit of over $1.4 Trillion after less than a year in power.
NO TELEPROMPTER REQUIRED
>Haaaar-vard.
No, it’s Haaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh-vard.
I’ve watched her do this twice and I can attest that she’s the real deal. She’s an excellent, entertaining, and smart speaker. Very enjoyable. The only time I saw her falter (and it was a barely perceptable falter) was when she was in the middle of a fairly lengthy quote and she had to look down at her notes. She looked like she may have lost her place for a second (and I mean nanosecond) but she found it quickly and carried on. She was careful to find her place and deliver the quote accurately. You could tell that she had looked down only because she didn’t want to mis-quote the person.
Haaaahhhhhhhhhhhh-vahd.
YOU GO GIRL: Sarah speaks from the Heart and she does not need a TelePrompter and she has more fans than the “X’s” hole administration has. She and like minded people needs to preserve our country and our God Given Rights. WE NEED YOU SARA!
She knows who she is and what she believes, not what the teleprompter believes.
Didn’t Mark Twain say: If you tell the truth, you don’t need a TelePrompter.
“Palin - NO TELEPROMPTER REQUIRED”
That would make a great bumper sticker ir T shirt
WINNER!!! ;)
Doubtful... Ann knows how to spell "disdain..."
Otherwise, great article!
;-/
Her convention speech accepting the VP nomination was the best political speech I’ve ever seen.
Libs lose their minds when you tell them her teleprompter went out during that speech.
The 2012 Challenge: Vote for the candidate that speaks absent a script. Amazingly simple as only those with firm convictions and confidence in them can do it. Sarah makes it all look easy as, for her, it is easy. She is at one with her audience as she considers herself to be a part of it!!!
Watch our world!!!
