No one can deny his ratings, his influence, his tremendous book success, his ravenously loyal fans, and his impact - yet it's almost as though the rest of the Talk Radio Community doesn't know he exists.
It seems like so many of the big names in talk are "pal-ing" around, referencing each others work, appearing on each others program, yet where is Dr. Savage?
What could be causing this?
It's not like they never mention him (just very rarely), yet when they do... I can almost sense a tone of "dissimal" - like he's not legitimate. Why? Is it just personal, do they all know something we don't?
And his books are so huge, yet where is he on the news, on the cable channels (very rare indeed)? Is he such a loose cannon everyone is afraid of him.
It seems the only time he's in the news is when he gets into trouble - see MSNBC firing, and banning from the UK.
Clearly we have more questions than answers... as we continue to try and uncover the "dirty little secret" (if there is one)
So in closing I turn to you - for your take on 2 key questions about Michael Savage:

I used to download his free podcast everyday, and listen to him. But, when he got dumped from KNEW, all I could find on the internet was a monthly fee to download his podcast. I already pay for 2 other podcasts, I am not willing to fork over more $$$ for him. I do enjoy listening to him, he’s a hoot!
If anyone has a link to a free podcast, let me know please.
I found those commercials he did in the third person for himself when he was “banned in Britain” to be pathetic. Talk about a narcissistic self-promoter.
This alone atones for any and all of his other flaws. He may be the only broadcaster completely unaffected by the scourge of political correctness.
Also, "borders, language, & culture", it's as simple as that. Remedy the ills with those and this country can be great again. But political correctness has to stone cold die before that can happen.
2. Most of the other hosts seem to say the same thing, especially when I hear them back to back. Only Michael Savage has a different take, an insight. I think he is a genius.
But I can get too depressed when listening to him.

He has a very sharp mind and I feel can cut through a lot of debris. He beats others as to the real agendas of those he is exposing. He is very irritable and abrasive 50% of the time. Some call it nasty. I turn him on and off—depending on his mood. I do think he is funny and also annoying!
He does have a family and wife—but is always talking about eating alone, boating alone, being with his best pal, his dog! He really doesn’t mess around on the topics. To the point. Personally, I love his line —red diaper doper babies. He will not change—so its take him or leave him.
...just ask him or listen for 5 minutes.
Because he’s spent the past 15 years calling other hosts childish names - “hush bimbo, wallbanger, leprican”?
I can't take anyone seriously who has that POV.
Savage has mercilessly bad-mouthed Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and O’reilly for years.
That’s why they never mention him by name in their shows.
The only reason the other hosts have the same message everyday is because they just got through listening to Rush!

Savage is the Loud guy at the end of the Bar.
He always has something to say, and claims to be the only one saying it. Once in a while you agree with him, but more often you find him saying something that really annoys or offends you, and you would like the bouncer to throw the guy out, or better, have someone crack him over the head with a barstool.
I have witnessed Savage both ways.
A few weeks after Savage was calling for the impeachment of President Bush, I tune in and there he is praising President Bush saying he is America’s only hope. I think they call that Schizophrenia

Because he is one crazy ass, who is certifiably off the wall and right 99% of the time.
Because he is the Jerry Seinfeld of rabid right wingers. A show about nothing and yet always interesting.
How can you attack a guy that talks about spaghetti, wine or the last terrible dining experience, who then ties it all into the subject he is talking about or just completely skips the news, cuz he feels like it and yet he is still entertaining.
No one wants to mess with Teddy. Little bastard is meaner than Michael.
See how little sense my response is? He is the Goup Le Mange of interesting things to listen to and yet he is no longer heard in SFO and since I am in the South Bay, I can’t receive him very well on my drive.
Still, I do try to listen over the static.
Oh, and I have no idea who is on 910 KNEW and won’t listen to them again until Michael comes back.
Michael is like one of those anchor superstores, at a mall. Once it leaves the place loses it’s luster.

LOL. I don’t agree with your hate for Savage nor your love for LeVin, but this is the time and place for what you have to say.
He’s been on our local station for at least 7 years. I have tried several times to listen. He’s shrill, angry, a name caller and generally lacking in polish. He can’t hold a candle to Rush. I’ve emailed the station’s general manager several times about replacing him, but he’s still on. I won’t listen.
