Palin, the more she says the more I hope she runs in 2012.

There is already a pathway to citizenship, people use it every day.

“”Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?”

Palin: “No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules.”

So... what does she mean by “not total amnesty”? Does she support ‘half-way amnesty’? ‘Semi-total amnesty’? ‘Pay a ten dollar fine amnesty’?

Whatever it is, it doesn’t sound encouraging. It sure doesn’t sound like she’s all that different from the crowd we already have, who have forced de facto amnesty on us by not deporting illegals.

NO to any plan that allows the lawbreakers to stay in this country illegally while attempting to "document" themselves - return home and ENTER the US the way all the legal immigrants are entering. PERIOD. End of discussion.

Teddy Kennedy told us in 1986 when he was pushing Simpson-Mazzoli (which Reagan signed), that "this is the last amnesty ever." Don't ever forget that. There have been how many amnesties granted since 1986 - I lost track.

As stated, we already have a legal path to citizenship. If she does not take a strong stance against those who are here illegally she has lost my support. Illegal immigration, is the greatest threat to this country. I hate hearing the phrase, “well we can’t just send all 12 million back to where they came from”. How idiotic, these hordes of lawbreakers did not come here all at once. Start by taking away the incentives, ie. welfare, food stamps, education, housing, jobs, etc....

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? "

Palin: "I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country."

This is amnesty. Any legislation that legalizes the status of those who broke our laws by entering our country illegally and allows them to stay is amnesty.

This interview has been posted here quite a few times already on lots of threads. It was conducted what..a week or so before the elections last year, and had to reflect the top of the ticket's (amnesty Juan McCain's) views on the matter.
I would be very interested in hearing some more from Sarah Palin on this issue.
She has got to dump the McCain doctrines. Amnesty is just not acceptable.

Ha ha ha. It’s an OLD NEWS way back February 2009.

It’s clear.

You don’t shoot persons, legal and illegals.

You need to background check first. There are reasons why they are here, including those Legal Americans who are HARBORING illegals for “MONEY”.

Surely, you want to know their stories first and learn about the SYNDICATES operating behind.

I see no damaging things here. FOLLOW THE RULES.

Is that NOT enough?

Plus, UNIVISION made it as a GOTCHA question, during that time, Palin was still Governor and undergoing post-election slimes (read: total kill by Dems/MSM.)

Plus, an Alaskan Governor really knows the value of Labor force.

Alaska needs people to tap its resources. Dirty work with good pays ... “dirty” job means that the Legal Lazy Hippies in Lower 48 don’t want to take.

I support an illegal alien's pathway to citizenship.

All he has to do is an about face, and follow the path he used to get here. When he gets back to the beginning, he will magically be in a place where he is a citizen.

Easy, huh?

From what I read, while she states "no amnesty", she also states she'd like to see a way for illegals to get a path to citizenship.

That COULD go either way...either they have to go home first, or they don't.

I'd like to see her CLARIFY.

There are many, many pro-amnesty pols who make pretty much the same statements as Palin on this.

This is the same set of pre-election interviews done in 2008. She was trying to parrot McCain as she was his running mate. Every month someone on this site comes up with a reference to these McCain influenced interviews and ignores everything she has said since she has been on her own.

Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to try to make her look bad to the people who support her. I’m thinking RINOs here.

I’m sorry you were so obviously taken advantage of by this. I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt.

There can be no pathway to citizenship for the 12 to 20 million illegals in the US without amnesty.

This talk of doing it legally, and going home and coming back legally is a lot of deceptive nonsense, or a severe display of ignorance. Not saying what Palin means, or doesn’t mean, but...

Nations have immigration quotas and most have far more people applying than will ever be admitted legally. And there are large numbers in line in Mexico and all nations, already far ahead of any illegals who might “get in line”.

Few if any of the illegal aliens would ever become legal by taking a place in line with all those already seeking a legal immigration slot. Saying otherwise is the height of dishonesty or ignorance.

Unless we just gave the home countries of the illegals a one time, big increase in their legal immigration slots, which would be amnesty by any other name.

All this talk of going back and coming legally is nonsense, and could never happen for the overwhelming majority of illegals.

I’m as against amnesty as anyone else - but I say don’t rush her to answer. Give her a chance to REALLY hear the grass roots on this issue - being from Alaska she probably didn’t have to deal with illegals much - and then being with McCain was - a disaster.

We have three years until the next presidential election, and at least a year before we even need to think about our nominee - she will have to answer to us on this issue, and she has to know that. There is no hurry.

But for tonight - let’s see if she can pull off the win in upstate New York for us (after having disposed of the RINO) - and if she does, let’s celebrate BIG TIME, and then come back to this issue a bit later.

“stfuhunterites”

Real nice key word there, to whoever put it in the list.

This just proves that the Squatter Support Squad of FR is alive and well and supports Sarah because they believe she supports yet another amnesty. This is NOT about Duncan Hunter...we KNOW his views, much to the dismay of the open border crowd and he’s NOT a 2012 hopeful, so stuff it. This is about Sarah Palin, and it’s time for freepers who support amnesty and the invasion of this country turning it into just another 3rd world hell hole to just come out and admit it.

Does anyone have an answer to that question?

No, I really don't know where she stands on immigration, but I do know where she plans to go on her book tour...

Its plain she is against Illegal immigration in the excerpt.

Right now she seems to be trying to stay away from anything but the Book Tour. Too bad for the leftymedia, they ain’t gonna catch her.

Would anyone support an alternative punishment to deportment? I have been thinking about this and I think a comprehensive immigration bill that includes deportation, but does not rely solely on deportation may be worth considering. I was thinking that the Federal Government could start giving tax breaks to companies that comply with strict citizen ship verification, and the take breaks would be equal to the saving that companies gain by hiring illegals. Another alternative would be to enact a form of indentured servitude; if you are an illegal you can apply for a $200,000 bond and each month you would have to pay on that bond, until it was payed off and then you would then get to apply for full citizenship. The last alternative would be military service. These are some ideas, because I don’t think you are ever going to find enough politician that will go with a full blown deportation strategy. I personally don’t disapprove of a full blown deportation strategy, but not even Ronald Reagan did that. Most of you wouldn’t vote for him today either,if you are honest with yourselves.

Personally I think to make immigration the #1 issue would be a mistake. To insist on having Sarah say, I will send every single one of them home in my first term, would be a loser of an issue.

Sarah will do all the right things if elected! Lets get her elected first!
