Raleigh, N.C. John Lassiter has taken a 50-46 lead in Public Policy Pollings final survey of the Charlotte Mayoral race, an outcome that is still within the polls margin of error.
White undecideds moved in Lassiters direction over the final days, giving him a staggering 68-29 lead with that group. Foxx leads 86-12 with African Americans.
Lassiter leads 51-40 with independents, continuing a double digit lead hes shown with those voters in every poll of the race. Hes also winning 17% of the Democratic vote while Foxx is only getting 9% of Republicans to cross over.
The primary reason for Lassiters victory if he does emerge as the winner is that the Charlotte electorate is skewing very Republican this year compared to 2008. Barack Obama took the city by a landslide margin but respondents in this poll report having voted for him by only a 53-44 margin.
This race is still too close to call but its going to be pretty hard for Anthony Foxx to win without cracking 30% of the white vote, said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. Its all going to depend on who shows up tomorrow.

He would actually make a good mayor.Shame he is gone.
Charlotte NC open Mayoral, Republican leading to succeed Pat McCrory (had been previously expecting to go rodent).
Why is it a “staggering” lead for “Whites” and no commentary on a much larger AA lead? (rhetorical) and journalists wonder why their profession is dying?
I’m getting the feeling tomorrow will be an anti-Obama blow-out. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Racism.
Foxx leads 86-12 with African Americans.
Not racism.
That thought jumped immediately into my head, too.
The only answer is that the “journalist” knows that the vast majority of AA voters don’t think, they just vote for the (D). White voters are supposed to be diverse in their behavior and have a contemplative nature about things and see the nuances of what the (D) candidate is saying, then decide who to cast the vote for.
Yes, I’m accusing “journalists” of being racists. I don’t hide it and I won’t sugar coat it.
12% of the black sounds good these days.
