According to an Associated Press story featured in the Chicago Tribune:
"WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama will not commit more U.S. troops to Afghanistan until he is convinced that the central government can be a credible and effective U.S. partner, a senior White House aide said Sunday."
Obamas hard line is interesting. If the American people would take such a stance against our own government, perhaps things would get accomplished, since our own president and Congress are neither credible nor effective.

Dear Pres, Your leadership must be credible an effective and you have failed so far.
Dang it all. You got me good. Where’s the “satire” tag?
If the Afghan government is not good enough for new troops,
why is it good enough for the soldiers already serving there ?
Anyone ??
Then Obama should not commit U.S. troops to Afghanistan at all
Good question... now if only someone in the government could come up with a “credible” answer.
I would be so much happier if this story were a satire... unfortunately, the only joke in this piece is Obama.
One Freeper here says that we shouldn’t be in Afghanistan because of the corrupt government with a president who stole the election. I asked if they were more or less corrupt than our own president whose political party routinely steals elections.
“Obama says Afghan government must be credible and effective. “
Gotta’ hand it to Obama and Co.
Laying his pretext for “cut-and-run” from Afghanistan.
In order to pay for a “healthcare reform” bill that will only cut
the number of uninsured by one-third.
And hopefully will be the slow, swelling start of a tsunami of anger
when even some younger Democrats realize it’s “write the IRS a
$750 penalty check, or sign up for a multi-thousand dollar government
healthcare plan”...and not get any real care as thousands of doctors
decide it’s time to hang up their stethascope.
It’s funny how a loser like Obama expects the Afghan government to be “effective and credible” when he is the last person to deserve such descriptions.
Here it comes...wait for it...wait for it...
BENCHMARKS!
In other words, Øbama wants the Afghan government to be something he isn’t.
O-Moron is neither credible nor effective. Mammaries on a bull.
Coming for THIS guy? ROTFLMAO
The WORLD is laughing at us.
Credible and effective like Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea?
And don’t forget Iran, where protesters were being shot and this administration planned its meeting with Ahmadinejad.
