Unfortunately, I always find myself a little hesitant to spend a lot of time searching for documentary evidence that I'm skeptical exists, but other people claim *does* exist but can't produce.

For instance, a year ago, when I first started discussing the eligibility issue on obamacrimes.com, more than one person insisted they they personally witnessed Obama, on TV, say that he wanted to change the National Anthem to "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." They continued to insist having witnessed it even after it was pointed out that that story originated in a satire column. I offered to donate $100 to Phil Berg's campaign if anyone could produce this televised statement that they swore they saw on their own TVs, but I was only told to go search for it myself.

More recently, in his infomercial, Gary Kreep claimed that Alan Keyes raised the natural born citizen issue in a 2004 debate with Obama. Kreep specifically says that there is video of this event. But there's not. A representative of Keyes' own campaign has said no such event ever happened. So Kreep was just flat-out lying in the infomercial, and anyone searching for the video he cited would be wasting their time.

Now maybe your ad did exist. I admit I'm very skeptical, but I'm open to the possibility. A misspelled ad is not beyond the realm of possibility. But at the same time, I've lived through enough phantom evidence to not expend my efforts looking for evidence that others' claim exists but which they can't seem to produce themselves.

I read that the “correct” Arabic spelling of Barack is Barak and that after his visits to Africa, he decided to use this spelling. But, then again, “Barack” apparently means something special in Malaysian, for whatever it’s worth.

So you're suggesting that his parents named him "Barak Hussein Obama II" even though his dad's name (as evidenced by the divorce paperwork) was "Barack"? His marriage license says "Barack." Even if you don't want to rely on the COLB, the recently discosed index data from Hawaii that Leo Donofrio's been plugging says that his name is "Barack" and his dad's name is "Barack."

I don't suppose you remember where you read this theory?

I had two cataract operations this summer with great results. I don’t need any glasses for anything besides sun glasses.

Also, I had a knee operation/repair on a tear of my meniscus in my left knee. Saw the Ortho yesterday for my 8 week checkup, and he told me there was no need for anymore followup as I am doing great.

Outside of those 3 events, it was a dull summer.

I actually did do a cursory search of FR. I had to do it through Google, since FR doesn't have a text search, but a good selection of keywords brought the result count down to a practical level.

No hits, though. Several results pointing to this thread, and to this thread, but none to any posts supporting your recollection. Hence the skepticism.

I have no patience with laziness. It wasn’t the title of a thread. It was one little thing on one of the many, many, many threads about this.

I have spent dozens and dozens and dozens of hours reading, since early summer 2008, reading. I did my homework. You haven’t done yours.

Read up, and you’ll find it, or you could try asking one of the more knowledgeable freepers like Beckwith or Fred Nerks about it, although whether they’ll want to bother with you or not I have no idea.

IIRC - there was a discussion in connection with how BARAK obama sr was always shown as BARACK OBAMA both in 'Dreams' and in articles written about him in Hawaii - yet when he returned to Kenya he wrote the above article (which is reported as having annoyed Kenyatta) he wrote his name as BARAK - dropping the 'c'

The name BARAK is closer to the phonetic spelling of the arabic. The additional 'c' may have been how the teachers enrolled him in the christian school he attended.

After independance in 1963, as a Kenyan, he would have been quick to discard anything to do with a spelling that might be interpreted as a 'colonial hangover' -

However, Obama Two was stuck with the english version. In 1964 any self-serving documentation that had been raised to claim obama sr as the father carried forward the name BARACK. (imho)
