Why White America Chose Obama
The American Thinker ^ | October 14, 2009 | Robin of Berkeley

I grew up in a small city in the New York suburbs. My parents scrimped and saved to give us a saner life than in the Bronx.

Unlike most other towns in the county, our area was diverse, with a wealthy population in opulent estates; a middle class group (mine); and a large, low income population, mostly comprised of black residents.

In the 60's, liberal policy makers conceived of forced busing so that deprived kids could enjoy tonier surroundings. The utopians envisioned the dazzling spectacle of ethnic bonding.

At my elementary school, the black kids arrived each day by bus while whites walked or rode bikes. When the kids exited the bus, they looked scared to death, dazed into silence. Walking into school together must have felt like a walk of shame.

We didn’t elect Obama. ACORN did. Oh, that’s right.. We all know the vast majority of ACORN workers are white, so I guess maybe we did. </sarcasm>

It wasn't the black or the white kids' fault.

BS...it was damn sure the black kids fault they acted like feral animals.

This writer like so many whites still clings to stupid old notions like she has Stockholm Syndrome...when will stupid white folks quit excsuing sh*tty black behavior?

Believe it or not, that is what has created this debacle as much as anything.

Yet another article similar to what I mentioned in my email about my experiences (I went to forced-integrated schools, but I didn’t have the kids sent out to where I lived - I was bused into the inner city to go where they lived). We surprisingly (in the ‘80s) didn’t have racial incidents much. Thugs and bullies came in all shades, including the teachers and principals.

Do you send your kids to private school or did they go to public ? I got bused downtown to Johnson Middle, did a stint at nearby Cameron for the summer, and MLK, Jr. Magnet, all either next door to or near Black housing projects.

Great article but I really think its too late for us here in the USA. Too much indoctrination.

Baby Boomers killed America.

High minded liberals were culpable for hatching up grand plans without an iota of thought about how it would play out in real time: that if you create a nightmare situation for black children by removing them from their neighborhood and their friends, you traumatize them. And if you then turn them loose and give them carte blanche, some will be out for blood.

Children of all races have been removed from their neighborhoods and friends in pursuit of liberal social engineering projects. Yet, I don't hear of Asian kids, for example, behaving in the manner described.

Liberal hatred of neighborhood schools has caused all sorts of problems. But responsibility for violence lies with the individual who engages in it.

I see the author is described as:

Robin is a recovering liberal...

I'd say she hasn't recovered fully, based on this article. Everyone in it is a victim according to her.

...and a psychotherapist in Berkeley.

Ah, so that explains all the psychobabble.

My kids go to Oakview...south of Franklin ..Daughters are in college ...both private...one is NY and the other here in Lipscomb

baby is at University of Mommy’s he’s majoring in lap and boobies...

Oakview principal is one of us...a fine lady

I moved you knew that?

Me...I was at ground zero of first major forced busing in 7th grade 69-70 Christmas break at Hardy Jr High in Jackson MS...held us out for an extra week...i can still remember waiting with my daddy at the Clarion Liar docks to see if we were still zoned for Hardy

fed courts ruled to break it up...was freedom of choice prior to that and very segregated...maybe 5% black

after busing and white flight...became 70% black

and was just like this article..fights, rapes(and voluntary gang bangs) in the bathroom, weapons ...you name it baby..wide assed open with 7-9th grade...very very very racial...but still not the hostility I feel today...not even close

my folks put me in private my next year where I stayed till my long haired ganji smoking rebellious arse got kicked out of Jackson Prep and my dad took us to Fairhope AL where i did senior year at local public...a laid back 80% white sorta rural school

Jackson public schools are now 97% black I hear

progress is sure fun...

now you know why we moved out here....even JT Moore ain’t a great middle and my oldest boy has a talent for fisticuffs (it’s genetic) and I don’t want him in 5th grade at 10 fighting 15 year old black 8th grader wolf pack and getting killed over his lunch money

it really galls me..my businesses pay 300K per year in local property taxes ...

I know libs who sent their wimpy kids to Moore and the kids were beat to a pulp and all their crap taken first day...they forked over for Ensworth after all that..lol

I do hear they quit busing though....

folks who live in South Dakota or Kansas here and preach to us down here on this forum simply have no clue what it’s like...but Nashville has less of this than any other 1M plus town in the Southeast

Baby Boomers killed America.

In the 60's the adult policy makers who instigated and organized busing were not Boomers. They were of the earlier generation, the "Silents" as Strauss and Howe call them.

You may want to look at their interesting work on the layering of generations during each period in history. http://www.fourthturning.com/

Many of the cultural icons associated with the 60's were not Boomers at all but "Silents" and some were even from the "GI Generation".

btw..even here in bucolic Williamson the public schools still preach “some” of the same crap espoused by NEA and modern textbooks

my oldest got in a row with his teachers over Columbus and his errant ways of not serving tea and crumpets to the minorities inhabiting these shores

Like you, I went to a public high school in the 80's (early 80's). Neither the black nor white students were bussed to our school from another town... because we all lived in the same town. ;-) But, there was much racial tension at our school back then.

So, I don't doubt the overall experiences the writer describes. But, I suspect she's using some creative license for dramatic effect. And I noticed all of the kids who committed wrongs are portrayed as victims of some sort in her article. (That kind of thinking is the crux of the problem.)

Whatever the case, it sounds like another reason to homeschool. Ping to metmom. (It's your call, metmom. Just another article about public school.) Have a good day.

Very good point. I remember some discussion on that point on other threads here. I'm outta here. Good day.

Sorry, it was the generation before the Boomers. Most of us were still in school at the time of these forced busing experiments. Even the oldest (those born around 1945) had some experience of it, and it was forced on them for their children in the early 70s by the generation before them.

That’s right, the “Greatest Generation.” A lot of this stuff came from people who are now in their 80s or dead.

Its time to correct a lot of misinterpretive events, the part of America that voted for Obama were weak minded fools that fell for a con job.

These people cannot exist without someone telling them what to do, these people are what Communistic countries use to support their pogroms, the people that voted for Obama do not want their neighbors driving new blinged out Hummers hauling speedboats around, these people want the rich to share their wealth to THEM, they want free healthcare, they want food stamps and benefits that can support them as they have come to depend on the states and federal government to support them, they are already socilized in their lifestyle.

.

The part of America that voted for this idiot and usurper will be the first causalities of any hardship, the first to cry for help and the first in breadlines.

The real America will create its own way of living to any extent necessary to support itself, will grow their own food, raise chickens and find ways to reduce paying exorbitant taxes, even if it means giving up their homes and moving elsewhere, real Americans will be patriotic and will not roll over on their backs in supplication to a corrupt government out of fear.

The part of America that voted for Obama should be constantly reminded that they CAN correct their mistakes, they CAN stand up and protest, they CAN ask questions about eligibility.

The question is for them is this, can they accept the reality of what they voted for?

One part of the white Obama vote is as you describe.

A perhaps larger part of his white vote is actually considerably wealthier than the average and voted for him out of either white guilt or ideological agreement.

It's only the middle of the white economic scale that voted for McCain. Or more often (like me) for Palin.

Baby Boomers are not the problem, communism is the problem,
FDR began the fall from grace, the the 60’s radicals with help of amoral dims have done it to us by knowing we would roll over until it was to Late!

IT is not to late, I fought the radicals in the 60’s and 70’s...and never voted for other than a conservative...we must stand up for our Constitution, not the O HopeOne

Actually you have hit upon a wordage that can be used...

“White Guilt”

I would love to see this explained on Fox coming up in the next hour, or for Glenn Beck to harp upon it, thats a good point because its something that Obama has monopolized to his advantage, question is how far must it go? How may years or generations must we consider this “White Guilt”?

Personally in my view Obama was a new player in the baseball team that managed to get at bat, he hits a couple of grand slams early in the season but every appearance to date he has choked up, fouled out and struck out.

And now the team is losing its chance for the playoffs, all because of one player that everyone thought could keep on hitting the Grand Slams.
