How the GOP can survive through 2050

But let’s be realistic. Being, in essence, the white party makes the GOP uncool. And that’s only going to get worse as the impact of decades of indoctrination in the uncoolness of white people by the school system and Main Stream Media continue to pile up.

Further, contra Karl Rove, the GOP will never be able to shake its white party image. It will either increase its share of the white vote or it will go out of business as a party capable of winning national power.

My suggestion: the only long-term option for the Republicans, the de facto white party, is to rebrand the Democrats as the de facto black party.

Not the Minority Party or the Cool, Hip, Multicultural Party—but the Black Party. Go with the flow of the fundamental Manichaeism of American thought: Black versus White.

Sure, it’s kind of retarded, but Americans, especially American intellectuals and pundits, aren’t good at thinking in terms of shades of brown. You can’t beat it, so use it.

Hispanics and Asians certainly will never be terribly happy with the idea of being junior partners in the white party. (Indeed, lots of white people have an allergy to belonging to the white party.) Hence, the alternative must be framed that if Hispanics and Asians don’t want to be junior partners in the white party, they get to be junior partners in the black party.

Black or white: choose one.

Or they can not choose and stay home on Election Day. Half a loaf is better than none.

The cunning required in rebranding the Democrats as the black party is not to criticize the them for being the vehicle of African-American political activism, but to praise them for it, over and over, in the most offhand “everybody-knows” ways.

Republicans can hurry along the coming Democratic train wreck by, for example, lauding blacks as the “moral core” of the Democratic Party. Respectfully point out that the Democratic Party is the rightful agent for the assertion of African-American racial interests, and that advancing black interests is central to the nature of the Democratic Party. Note that, while individual blacks wishing to vote for the good of the country are more than welcome in the GOP, black racial activists have their natural home in the Democratic Party. That’s what the Democrats are there for.

Don’t argue it. Just treat it as a given.

Moreover, Republican rhetoric should encourage feelings of proprietariness among blacks toward their Democratic Party. It’s not all that hard to get blacks to feel that they morally deserve something, such as, for example, predominance in the Democratic Party.

This kind of subtle language, casually repeated, puts Democrats in a delicate spot. Either they insult blacks by denying this presumption, or they alarm their Asian, Hispanic, and white supporters by not denying it.

For instance, 2016 on the Democratic side will be interesting. If Obama wins re-election in 2012, blacks will argue, not unreasonably, that they’ve brought the Democrats political prosperity and therefore a black deserves a spot on the 2016 national ticket. If Obama loses re-election, the media will relentlessly blame it on white racism, and blacks in 2016 will demand a black candidate to fight the scourge of anti-black feelings.

Even if blacks are rebuffed by the Democrats in the 2016 nominating process, they aren’t going to vote Republican in the fall. But without a black on the ballot, they won’t show up to vote in quite the huge numbers seen in 2008.

Conversely, if the Democrats pander to blacks in 2016, thus establishing a precedent of a permanent black spot on the national ticket, that will raise severe questions in the rest of this awkward alliance.

Meanwhile, as the black sense of rightful ascendancy in the Democratic Party becomes more pronounced, Hispanics will be demanding that their burgeoning numbers mean that it’s now their turn. More Asians will wonder why they are supporting an agglomeration dominated by blacks who don’t share their values. And white Democrats will wonder how exactly they can prosper in a party where everybody else is allowed to speak out in internal disputes as representatives of a legitimately aggrieved racial group, but they aren’t.

The GOP faces a daunting future of their own making. Then, again, so do the Democrats. All Democrats should be helpfully assisted to confront this.

SOme of this has already happened, though not on purpose. In order to assure that there are some black congressmen, certain districts have been drawn up to make sure that there is a large black majority within the district. These districts are drawn up by taking democrat leaning blacks from what would be surrounding districts and drawing the lines so that they are all together. The result? One strong hard left black represented district, surrounded by three or four black-deficient Republican leaning districts.

I count myself among the Black Individuals who want to vote for the good of the country.

The primary reason being that in recent years, I have learned the true history of the Republican Party, especially in the fact this party has been the real champion of Civil Rights, well before Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks came on the scene.

Much of what is taught as "African American Studies" in colleges and universities across the land is pure bunk; the racist history of the Democrat Party is completely whitewashed and made over. While there are some notable contributions made by Blacks in our nation's history that may have been overlooked, minimizing the contributions of Republicans like Fredrick Doughlass, Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and others is a glaring oversight on the part of these partisan hack 'Blacktactivists' posing as professors. Therefore, many Blacks are rendered clueless of their roots.

Right here on FreeRepublic, I happened upon links to a video series by historian David Barton entitled 'Setting the Record Straight: A History of the Civil Rights Movement'. I sent that to my Dad, and even he at 74 years of age, was amazed to find out what he didn't know about our history with the Church and Republicans who bravely fought to bring freedom to enslaved Blacks and give them the dignity of citizenship, versus being merely viewed as property by Democrat slave owners.

Be sure to set aside some time; both videos are nearly one hour in length, but well worth it.

He said he had not been aware much of the early history of Blacks in this country...he did not say anything about either political party (he voted for Obama unfortunately). But one glimmer of hope came out of our conversation in that he is quite upset about the Health Care Reform, and fears losing Medicare and Medicaid coverage, as well as TRICARE (as do I; we are second and third generation military retirees), and seeing his taxes go to covering illegal immigrants.

At least the rose colored glasses have finally come off.

The Republican Party just needs to get back to its conservative roots. It doesn’t need to be the “white party”.

Go after Asian-American business owners (anti-tax, anti-crime) or Hispanic social conservatives (anti-abortion, anti-gay-marriage).

John McCain ran an incoherent campaign, and his only coherent issue was highlighting his service in a war which occured before most Americans today were born (and that goes double for recent immigrants).

Being, in essence, the white party makes the GOP uncool.

Uncool? Did a teenager write this article?

How to make the republican party relevant:

1. Be prolife. Prolife beliefs cut across race and nationality, and appeal to everyone.

2. Be pro-job. Tax cuts benefit everyone, not just one race over another. Tax benefits can be targetted at a particular constituency (ie, not you). Limited government is therefore better because the government cannot pick winners.

3. Be pro-civil order. Minorities tend to suffer a disproportionate amount from crime, simply because of where they live. Everyone wants the same thing, a house to come home to where they can live with their family in peace. Nobody likes the thugs and the druggies, anymore than you do.

4. Be pro-marriage. The best choice any person can make for their future is to get married, and stay married. Chances are they will be more prosperous than other families. People are aware of family breakdown, but no one wants to talk about it!

5. Be pro-school choice. People when given the option will choose what’s best for them rather than what the bureaucracy thinks is best. The education and upward mobility needs to simply have the government get out of the way so that parents can act to get what they need for their kids.

You want to shed the label of being the ‘white guy only club), start with these 5.

I have a 6th position, be the party of POSITIVE VALUES, which are conservative and in order to stand up to those who are left or radical left leaning, and in a special way to the Hollywood crowd.

And just how would that be accomplished? Pres. Bush had more cabinet level minorities than anyone I can think of and they were trashed, their "own people" gleefully joined in. He truly worked hard to put them in slots with meaning and leadership, not pretend "show" positions.

There's is NO WAY the GOP is going to be able to swing minorities, they believe the lies and you're not going to convince them otherwise, look at the voting percentages. Ain't gonna happen.

Appeasement does nothing, it's such an obvious ploy that looks like a cheap trick, dishonest and belittles the rest of us who believe in doing things on one's own merit not the color of their skin.

Right now however, there's no real leadership in the GOP, they just keep trotting out RINOs, telling us (like we're idiots) that gee, these folks really, really represent us.

“And the difference between this and “Whites Only” drinking fountains is what again???”

That you are pointing out the Democrats are basically all about identity politics rather than colorblind principles.

How the hell do you pick a candidate any whiter than John McCain? There isn’t a candidate any whiter than John McCain. So your theory is to pick another Candidate that people can’t relate to beyond the color of his skin and making that the party platform, go back to the drawing board with this idea it’s flat and as popular as a klan rally in down town Chicago.

‘How the hell do you pick a candidate any whiter than John McCain?”

I’m not sure what McCain has to do with anything, the post is about highlighting what the Democrat’s are about. And that is identity politics.

Although, just thinking about McCain he is an example of a candidate who avoided issues like affirmative action, border control (in fact he favours reform/amnesty which will create millions more Democrat voters) or drawing attention to the racist Church Obama belonged to for 20 years.

I think that you will see identity politics for certain in the next cycle. There will be stories about white power groups defacing property or threatening black politicians. This will make people drop on their knees with white guilt. If there is such a thing as white identity politics then white guilt is as strong a motivator as anything else. Name me one CURRENT white political value that outweighs white guilt and I’ll give you a nickel.
