It began before dawn a devastating, well-planned attack. About 300 insurgents swarmed out of a village and mosque and attacked a pair of isolated American outposts in a remote mountainous area of eastern Afghanistan with machineguns, rockets and grenades. They first stormed the Afghan police post at the foot of the hill in the province of Nuristan, a Taleban and al-Qaeda stronghold on the lawless Pakistan border. They then swept up to the Nato post. The battle lasted all day. American and Afghan soldiers finally repelled them, with the help of US helicopters and warplanes but at heavy cost.

We should not use the deaths of our war fighters to make political points.
The Bush haters did enough of that already. So much in fact that President Bush gave up playing golf so it wouldn’t look improper that he was living a normal life.
Boy, talk about mixed emotions. I agree that a surge would be better than a shutdown but if the current regime is running this war shut down may be the only way to save us from losing more good men. What a dilemma.
But we must let the professionals do their jobs. One American who dies because of an incompetent politician is a tragedy.
LBJ's ghost is back in the White House.
In fact the more I look at this picture the madder I get - President Obama - I hope some of your peeps are reading this - man up and resign, you know you are a fraud and don’t have the guts to even look real warriors in the eye - wash yourself out and save the country some embarrassment...and maybe some precious lives to boot!
>>wtf was this country thinking to elect this light weight Jody in a time of war (or ever for that matter?)<<
Gotta agree with you there.

WHY are you not ready to attack Saudi Arabia and Pakistan??
The One will not make a decision on troops until he rams Obamacare down our throats. He is afraid to piss off his lefty pals and they wont pass his program, so we wait, and people die, no big deal to One who sees the larger picture.
..Before too long, possibly by the first of the year, I expect Reid, Pelosi and others will ask for his resignation..
I pray you are right. If they were smart, they would realize that asking for him to resign may actually save their party. They are stupid though.
“WHY are you not ready to attack Saudi Arabia and Pakistan??”
That is ridiculous and you know it. The governments of those 2 countries do not support this extremist activity. Those governments are cooperating with us the best they can.
They have sizable portions of anti Americanism in their countries.
But these 2 governments are walking a fine balance to keep the lid on the extremism.
If we attacked them; we blow the part of the government away that is friendly to us. We would install a hard line anti American regime in it’s place.

I’ll second that. Since “About 300 insurgents swarmed out of a village and mosque” it seems to me that the village and the mosque should have received a heavy dose of air delivered ordnance during the course of the battle. Just to make sure there were not any reinforcements, supplies, etc. in the village or the mosque.
But, the arugula was excellent!
The Kenyan Kommunist was quite a pimp.
It’s already too late to find someone who is responsible in the office of the POTUS. The current POTUS does not care about the oung Americans dying in Afghanistan. He’s too busy wining and dining.
People need to stand with signs counting the dead behind the morning news shows or anywhere they purport to place regular so-called people. Cover the news of the caskets returning...these are OUR boys...OUR boys. They need the respect and acknowledgement of their sacrifice for US!!!
If ONE man is going to carry their blood on his wringing hands, we need to know that.
arrogant pimp!
Giap’s post - Tet new war strategy:
What we should do: For each additional day’s stay the US must sustain more casualties. For each additional day’s stay they must spend more money and lose more equipment. Each additional day’s stay the American people will adopt a stronger antiwar attitude while there is no hope to conslidate the puppet administration and the army of South Vietnam.
