I was afraid it would come down to the adoption records laws. If she DOES find a statute that trumps the law, and the courts agree I will be completely amazed, really (sorry, but they’ve refused access to records even when a person’s LIFE is at stake, when a CHILD’s life is at stake - and I have to admit I’m VERY cynical when it comes to this subject). You’re really looking at a whole other can of worms here...
Having already spent years personally fighting these laws that protect CRIMINALS within adoption, I really hope people will now understand why these laws need to be changed... How incredibly FRUSTRATING and MADDENING this is!
I will say this — another FReeper said that Hawaii’s adoption records laws had changed and adults were now able to access their original certificates. I didn’t have time to verify it at the time, but it would seem that that is NOT the case from the statutes you cited, BP2.
Regardless of my cynicism, and my comments in this post, please know that I continue to pray on this, and I continue to give my support to all those who are fighting to expose this man.

Same process as when I got married, really. It just changes the name on the current certificate. Now, bear this in mind though — maybe this is what you meant — a legal name change would NOT change what appears on his original BC, or in any of the other files.

From the looks of what BP2 cited as far as statutes I’m not seeing where the laws have changed. Still, I wonder if it’s in another section of Hawaii code?
I can go look at one of the old adoption records sites I used to frequent, but just figured if you know that it definitely was changed recently, you may want to lend your voice to comment on what BP2 has found.
I readily admit that this issue is TOO close to me personally to be non-cynical, and not.... well, I’m searching for a word here, now... I guess what I’m trying to say is that I get a tad bit *itchy when it comes to this whole subject (not Obama’s records, just the adoption records laws... OK, well Obama’s records make me *itchy too, but not quite as bad as these laws in general! LOL).

My information was from an adoption site . It may be wrong OR it may really be about adults adopted as adults versus kids having gained adult status.
Gotta go with the statute.

Hawaii’s definition of Natural Born Citizen is NOT what the US constitutions writers considered Natural Born. Having dual citizenship, ie having a British father, makes him ineligible. His Birth records are going to make that glaringly clear.

Okubo cites 338-18(b) while completely ignoring 338-18(d), which states:
(d) Index data consisting of name and sex of the registrant, type of vital event, and such other data as the director may authorize shall be made available to the public.
Index data is information. And as I pointed out in yesterday’s report, various OIP Opinion Letters state that this information must be made available to the public, no exceptions apply.
Yet, Okubo’s response tells the citizen that “State law prohibits the Department of Health from disclosing any information about a Hawaii vital record…”
That’s a direct lie.
