A picture really is worth a thousand words. A picture along with a schematic of how the Park Service estimates crowd size is worth ... ?

Clearly from this picture it was just a bunch of racist 'Rednecks' that attended!

It’s a no-fly zone. Just behind the Trafficland camera that took the first picture is the White House.

So according to the Park Service, it was 1,186,000 when you add together the ticketed area and the public access area. Am I reading that correctly?
To: Paladin2
I read that officials declared the Rally scene an "aircraft-free zone". This includes helicopters. I have not verified this from another source.....but it probably correct, in my estimation.

Then why hasn’t anyone else posted a blog entry that shows both the picture of the crowd and the schematic that shows how the DC Park Service estimates the size of a crowd? Putting those two images close together allows people to look at them and make a comparison.

Why are there no aerial photos from copters? Because nobody wanted an authoritive source of the actual numbers? They'd rather have the ambiguity to shape the counts according to their agenda needs?

I'd agree on planes, for sure, I'm just not sure about traffic helicopters. I know traffic 'copters have to stay out of the way of airports as my commute ued to be by a couple of those such that the traffic reports were of no use.
Given that 0be was in the Red Star State and Congress was home for the typical 4 day w/e, I'd guess that it'd be safe for a designated 'copter to be over the Capitol on last Sat.

In looking at the first picture and comparing it to the Park Service estimate schematic, I’d say that the crowd is likely in the neighborhood of 1 million or more. Of course, that picture shows just the crowd on Pennsylvania Avenue. I haven’t seen any aerial pictures from the Mall. I’m certain that crowd was at least a large.

The no-fly zone is for all aircraft. News organizations can get permits to fly, if they want to. It appears that none of them wanted to for this event. As for traffic copters, very few of those here in the DC area and none that I am aware of that fly on Saturdays, not even to cover traffic heading out to the beaches.

I saw a helo flying nearby, not directly overhead, a bit to the southeast. The should have pictures, unsure if it was news or police.
