Things that perplex me - besides ACORN and Obama

Posted on 09/13/2009 5:05:59 PM PDT by texaschick

I was at the grocery store today and I noticed a stand in the middle of one of the aisles. What caught my attention was the sign on the stand that said "organic milk". How can this milk be organic if it's sitting in the middle of an aisle, not being refrigerated? Wouldn't they have to pump this milk full of preservatives for it to not have to be refrigerated? I don't get it.

I was watching the History Channel today. They ran a commercial for a program they are showing soon about when there are no more people on earth or something like that. Doesn't the word "history" mean things that have happened in the past....not the future? Shouldn't the History Channel just stick to things that are historic, not futuristic?

I got tired of getting worked up about ACORN and Obama so I have decided to throw these out there and see who can help me.

Anything bugging you - besides ACORN and Obama?

LOL! I love History, Discovery, A&E, etc. However, I watched a show on one of them one time describing the horror of when the Sun burns out in 4 BILLION YEARS. All I could say was, Duh? It’s funny what some people are paid good money to do.

Life after people is a really neat show. Granted its not history but I’ve watched Mad Max and Planet of the Apes on the history channel too.

I think it’s just truly amazing pasteurization. I knew someone many years ago who was researching this sort of thing (agricultural college, don’t’cha know), and it seemed to me that’s what they were doing; super-high temperatures or something like that.

Organic milk is often flash (ultra) pasteurized and put in airtight packaging. It can last a LONG time without refrigeration. I occasionally buy the little containers of it for my kid when we are on road trips.

That said, its not really "organic". Real organic milk is raw, not pasteurized. As long as raw milk is not contaminated its a heck of a lot better tasting and better for you. Most people don't even know what real milk taste like... just the over cooked mess they call milk in the grocery stores.

As much as I disliked the filthy parts of G. Carlin's comedy.

Why do we drive on the parkway and park in the driveway?
Why do we have hot water heaters? Shouldn't it be a cold water heater?
Why do they call it "Postal Service"?

I assume they noted that women and minorities would be hurt the worst...

Anything bugging you . . .

Yeah. The people who make ladders always put these big danger stickers on the top step telling you not to use it. Why do they even put a top step there in the first place if it's so dangerous and you're not supposed to even use it?

Correct you are! Sir! LOL!

I think I made a mistake though. I think it was 40 BILLION YEARS. Either way, I think I'm going to miss it. I don't work for the U.S. Government so a BILLION is still a big number to me.

If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, get a ugly girl for your wife.

Reverse discrimination!

That’s funny. I just had the “organic milk” conversation with a liberal friend this morning. He was explaining how “organic milk” didn’t spoil as quickly as “inorganic milk.” His explanation was totally void of logic, reason or proof - but . . .

Maybe he went to the same store !

I may tune in to it to see what it’s all about. It just sounded like a weird show to have on the history channel, actually the other shows you mentioned do too. I would expect to see Mad Max and Planet of the Apes on the Syfi channel not the History channel, they probably have been on the Syfi channel too.

That, along with women who stay with men who treat them like garbage, has bothered me for years.

Why do they call it "Postal Service"?

Who are they and why should you listen to they?

But to partially answer your question it all started here on this continent with Ben Franklin a post, some rocks and notes that needed to be sent to another town.

I don't know about the organic milk but I really enjoyed the series Life After People. It really has no political statement to make and the premise is that every single human disappears off the face of the earth and what would happen. What would happen within the first few minutes, the first few hours, days, years, decades and millinea.

It goes into what would happen to whole herds of cows in stockyards, domesticated pets and such. It is completely nonpolitical!
