David Hedrick had the fortitude to bluntly call Representative Brian Baird to account on several issues. Health care, the teaching of our children, and the upholding of ones oath to the Nation, were among the issues this brave Marine took Baird to task for.

If we had as many Marines in the US Congress as we have lawyers, things would be much better.

This district was represented by a pro-life Republican, Linda Smith, as recently as 1998.

SW Washington is a mixture of bedroom communities for Portland, OR (and includes the growing hub of Vancouver, WA), as well as some rural areas in the eastern part of the district. Largely secular, blue collar to middle class. Not too many “people of color.” In other words, a classic swing district.

The district is eminently winnable for us. President Bush carried it with 48% and 50% in 2000 and 2004, respectively, and McCain got a competitive 46% there in 2008 despite Washington State as a whole going heavily for Obama.
