My windows vista had me download 3 updates today. Told me they where "Important" one was called Vista Service Pack 2.
After downloading them I can not get to any web pages except Free Republic.
I am guessing its a DNS problem but Free Republic must be a SuperPage. It's faster then a speeding vista problem, able to leap DNS problems with a single bound, etc, etc.
“I think it’s just the opposite ... it’s a simple site without all the insane gizmos.”
And that is what I love about it. Well, that and FReepers.
Mac Snow Leopard here.... No problems. I’ll check on one of my Win pc’s later.
You can use OpenDNS just about anywhere. You just have to override the DNS settings for your network connection.

Windoze - reboot early, reboot often, give it lots of memory, and always have your virus protection up to date.
I am having that problem too. Only a few sites that I can go too.
Obama must be goofing with some switches.
FWIW, I am on Time Warner in San Diego.
Sony makes good TV’s.
My pocket Mac (iPhone) seems to be doing alright.
I’m in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Same trouble here and I’m on TimeWarner as well. Are we seeing a trend?
Yep. I am Time Warner Cable too. I can only get into a few sites, but can’t open email. I have called in the past and found that they’ve been hacked, or had a virus, or a main line of some sort went down. Usually they are up within an hour or two. If it is something major, might not be up until tomorrow.
No problems in South Carolina.
WindowsXP with IE. Work
Mac with Safari. Home
No problems with either.
So it isn’t everywhere. Are you with Time Warner?
Time Warner. Linux. Southern California. Same here...
(how’s the job situation there?)
Oooohhhh... I love me some San Diego. I went for the first time ever two weeks ago. I gotta hit that town again.
Thats a nice city ya got there. As I mentioned before I'm about 176mi out.
Time Warner does some strange things sometimes. 3 weeks ago I couldn’t get into my trading software because TW had the ports blocked on their server.
I wonder what reach Time Warner has. I’ve never checked. Do you know if it’s nation-wide?
Come on ova
Negative.
Possible Time Warner internet outage ping.
Not sure. We will probably know more soon. The best way is to call and ask. It is late though and think I will be shutting down for the evening soon anyway. It is evening, the wait times for a response I called would be fairly short though.
