Obama credits Unions with creating modern benefits like paid leave and minimum wage . The facts are that unions had nothing to do with the federal laws that created both. In fact Unions opposed the passage of federal laws that provided such benefits.
At a federal level FMLA passed in 1993 provides provides for only 12 weeks of unpaid family leave to workers that work at a business with 50 or more employees. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paid_Family_Leave.
At the time of the law's passage about 30% of workers nationwide received such benefits, and today about the same number do so. FMLA did not create unpaid family leave, it only documented a right that employees were already given by employers.
Minimum wage, similarly only tried to document a policy most companies enacted long before the law. These employee benefits are the result of competition and free market forces. Not Unions, and not socialism. It should be noted that socialist nations like Cuba, N. Korea, and Venezuela do not laws that require employers provide family leave or a minimum wage. Cuba and N. Korea have 7 day work weeks and no minimum wage. Obama went on to further lies in his speech to Unions. According to the anointed one

Sorry but I, and most other Americans owe nothing to unions for our success or happiness. The history of unions, like the history of the Democratic Party is littered with dead bodies, failed programs, and illegality, and arrogance. Less than 10% of Americans are in Unions, and I would posit that most are forced to be in a Union to work for an employer. Unions don’t pay for paid leave and minimum wage. Employers pay for paid leave and minimum wage. That’s why employers have been abandoning the USA for other countries where there is no paid leave or minimum wage or unions.
Comparing Obama and worms is uncalled for.

The one thing for certain you can say about this administration is, they are natural born sneaks, cheats and liars. While everyone is being convinced that they are supposedly legitimate; people like Ayers, Gates, Rezko, Van Jones, Wright and fellow travelers are the standard not the exception!
Minimum-wage is all about Government having a standardized tax base on labor to calculate and rely upon, nothing more. Anyone who thinks different is naive and ignorant.
I wouldn’t call him that. I don’t agree at all with the man, but I have more respect for a human being than that.
Someone needs to start a web site just to catagorize and organize all the lies Obama tells.
