When Ford refreshed the 2010 Mustang, they ignored mostly the engine bay. However, that will change with the new 2011 Ford Mustang. The base Mustang will be powered by Fords 3.7L V6 for the 2011 model year. Although that engine yields 273 horses in Lincoln cars, power will be ramped up to 315 horsepower for the Mustang. That represents a significant increase of 105 horsepower over the current V6-powered Mustang.
Furthermore, a 400 horsepower 5.0L V8 motor will also join the Mustang lineup for 2011. Dubbed Coyote, it will be used in the Mustang GT model with a six-speed manual transmission. According to Mustang Source, the 2011 Mustang GT reportedly lapped Michigans GingerMan Raceway dead-even with the BMW M3 (despite a 200 pound weight disadvantage).

Meh... looks like somebody tried to make a BMW out of a Camaro....
From a design standpoint, it falls way short when compared to the new Camero. Probably beats the Camero in quality though. Have heard stories of Cameros breaking down a few miles from the dealer.
Bullshiite!
There’s no way in the world any stock production Mustang can keep up with an M3.
The M3 has 414 HP and has Car and Driver exasperated because they cannot find a car that can go head to head with it.
....not even the Porsche 911
Not bad.
Sweet, But it will make my 08 obsolete.
The Muskrat will leave the Obama cars in the dust, in price, in speed but especially in sales. Stupid cars will probably start populating Used Car Lots like fleas populate Hippies and other dogs.
If only GM would find a way to continue the Pontiac G8 GXP as a Caprice or maybe as an Impala SS. The GXP is a better car than the Camaro, the Challenger, or the Mustang.
I don’t like it.
Of course the color doesn’t help much, for me anyway.
Why can’t people spell CamAro correctly? It’s only been around for what? 40 years? Sorry to bust your chops, it’s just a pet peeve of mine :)
And I agree — the new Camaro looks much better than the new Mustang. But it weighs almost 4000lbs(!) and has a crap-tastic interior.
The new Mustang is a nice place to spend your time inside.
A 400hp Mustang GT will probably clean the clock of a 422hp Camaro SS.
But I think when I can afford it next, I want a 2011 Convertible Camaro SS. Triple Black. *drools*
Just sold my ‘07 GT Convertible (Black with Tan interior) with 475hp Saleen SC. Sad to see it go, but I needed to due to the economy ;(
But it IS perty...really, really perty.
Yeah right. Try a Cadillac CTS-V. It will clean the clock of the M3, AND can demolish it around the Nurburgring. Probably cheaper too (and over 500hp).
Pretty sure someone near me has a triple black SS. Man, is it sweet. Turn my head every time it drives by.
That blue on the Mustang is the worst car color I've ever seen, especially for a 'muscle' car.
I swear I read a Car&Driver comparison between the 'Stang, Camaro, and the new Charger, and the Camaro won overall, including acceleration, IIRC.
Buddy of mine had a souped up '67 Mustang...he let me drive it once...29 Palms to Mojave averaging over 110 mph. I had a '94 Camaro I paid cash for brand new. Ex-wife spun it in the rain and scraped both sides on the center divide - Looking at it afterwards was the one time in my life I was actually speechless.
I have a black 04 Terminator, when its in tune it dynos at 560 or so. Anyone interested? 20K and its YOURS! Kenny Bell Ported blower, after market exhaust.... its LOUD. Did I mention its REALLY LOUD? Seriously, its REALLY FREAKIN LOUD.
The funny thing about that is that the Camaro began as, and always has been, a blatantly derivative ripoff of the Mustang concept.
In any, I actually don't like the looks of the 2010 tweak to the Mustang as much as I liked the 05-09 generation, though the atrocious color on the one in the pic doesn't help.
Comparing the M3 to the CTS-V is apples and oranges son.
....the BMW M5 kicked the CTS-V’s butt.
Now THAT is one beautiful car!
