I have frequently spoken to Islamic apologists who say that their Muslim "friends" respect Jesus. They probably do, but it is not in the same way that Christians do. In the view of Muslims, Jesus is coming back as a Muslim and he will break the cross (destroy Christianity) and be a slave to Islam. He will also abolish the jizya, which will leave Jews and Christians with only two options. To convert to Islam or die.

I agree, it makes no sense to say that Jesus would come back and destroy is own religion. But hey, lots of Muslims will say anything to advance Islam.

Not all Moslems ~ among the Shia there are those who care only about your belief in the Final Judgment.

The Sunni and Iranian Twelvers (and their clones) are the ones into all the legalistic mumbo-jumbo and fake cleanliness rituals. Just stay away from those guys and it's hard to tell the difference between an ELCA member and your typical Moslem.

The "logic" of it is that 'Isa (the Muslim idea of Jesus) was supposedly just a prophet who taught Islam, but the Apostles and especially St. Paul got it all wrong and thought he was the Son of God the Father, and was one of the Divine Persons of the Holy Trinity.

Ergo, when 'Isa returns to assist the Mahdi, he'll take some time out to chastise his ignorant followers for getting his religion all wrong. He breaks all the crucifixes that honor him, and destroys all the churches which worship him.

Those followers who are pious will supposedly convert and follow 'Isa and the Mahdi. Those who do not will be put to death by 'Isa and the Mahdi.

Well ... He's certainly coming back ... The Mad Moos get that rigth. They're also right about God alone being God.

After that they go off the rails pretty badly.

They'll learn, though, sooner or later.

"Sooner" would be preferable ... for all of us.
