We knew this was coming. We told you it would happen as far back as last year during the campaign.
It is now official. Barack Obama has launched a full, frontal attack on conservative talk radio, and he is doing it without re-implementing 'the Fairness Doctrine.'
But first, a bit of background.

All of radio, all of network TV, all of cable TV, all the remaining newspapers in his pocket.
Every arm of government politicized in his favor using the czars.
The unions in control of industry.
All of the “Stimulus” money a giant slush fund to pay his allies.
The Census fixed to his advantage.
Thus reelection OK, take back Congress and the House - OK. You - the proles - very much not OK.

You’re right. It doesn’t matter what they’re called, but the “Ministry of Truth” and the “Nightwatch” are references to the Babylon 5 tv show.... where a future free country - the Earth Alliance - fell into tyranny.
I suppose Congress (a Republican majority Congress) could pass a bill forbidding their offices to be funded. Obviously, the Rs would have to be able to sustain a veto, but . . . .
The "Fairness Doctrine" never forced anything directly. It just threatened the licenses of station owners if they were not "fair." Liberal shills filed complaints with the stations which had to be passed on to the FCC.
So the owners had a choice: give away air time to everyone wanting to express opposing opinions to the hosts' opinions or switch format to -- shudder - Top 40.

Check out the reveiws of Cass Sunstein's book, "Republic.com," winner of 2002 New York Book Show Award.
Sunstein is a good buddy of Obama's and is up for an important czar in the Administration.
Sunstein's book does advocate government force to make us read alternate opinions on the Internet -- and he is no fan of FreeRepublic.
His latest book Nudge: Improving Decisions about . . . argues that alternatives should be structured so that government approved choices are the only ones from which citizens have to choose among, "libertarian paternalism."
That would be ironic, wouldn’t it, if we have the “Obama curtain” and we need to listen to overseas broadcasts?
Remember the days of “Radio Free Europe” broadcasting to places behind the Iron Curtain.
I wonder if somebody like Rush could set up a radio station in the Bahamas or offshore somewhere, and blast a strong signal back to America.
And, with the internet and literally millions of web sites and hundreds of millions on line, I hope that they won’t find ways to totally surpress the truth.
Because the plan is to drive broadcasters who carry conservative talk radio out of business.
He won't be happy until he silences ALL opposition. I'm sure there is a technology capable of jamming all SW radio frequencies in America. Just wait.

Roger Hedgecock was talking about this last night. Our talk radio hosts are going to need all the support we can give them. Not nearly enough people listen to talk radio to have the opinions they have against it. That includes a whole lot of country club republicans, some of them my neighbors.
Any ideas about what Rush may have in mind to prevent all of this?

The Democrats always seem to find a few Republicans willing to carry their water. Sometimes more than a few.
Need to get the issue out in there so independents and moderates who don’t listen to it can understand the dangers that are present if conservative radio is silenced. First the radio, then the internet. :(
