Obama Launches Frontal Attack on Conservative Talk Radio
Columbia Conservative Examiner ^ | August 15, 2009 | Anthony G. Martin

We knew this was coming. We told you it would happen as far back as last year during the campaign.

It is now official. Barack Obama has launched a full, frontal attack on conservative talk radio, and he is doing it without re-implementing 'the Fairness Doctrine.'

But first, a bit of background.

The need for speed.

If he can get his totalitarian agenda implemented very quickly, then 2010 may or may not be in his favor; it wouldn't matter. The infrastructure he will have put in place would be in his favor for 2012

All of radio, all of network TV, all of cable TV, all the remaining newspapers in his pocket.

Every arm of government politicized in his favor using the czars.

The unions in control of industry.

All of the “Stimulus” money a giant slush fund to pay his allies.

The Census fixed to his advantage.

Thus reelection OK, take back Congress and the House - OK. You - the proles - very much not OK.

Hello George Orwell - 1984 arriving only a few years late.

That’s fine, Barry...this will just help Rush stimulate the private jet, golf, steak, and cigar industries!

“Doesn’t matter, czar or minister of truth for either way they are not accountable politically and can’t be canned or disciplined except by the anointed one who appointed them.”

You’re right. It doesn’t matter what they’re called, but the “Ministry of Truth” and the “Nightwatch” are references to the Babylon 5 tv show.... where a future free country - the Earth Alliance - fell into tyranny.

I suppose Congress (a Republican majority Congress) could pass a bill forbidding their offices to be funded. Obviously, the Rs would have to be able to sustain a veto, but . . . .

RE: "I cant see how he can directly reduce listenership or even make us listen to an alternative."

The "Fairness Doctrine" never forced anything directly. It just threatened the licenses of station owners if they were not "fair." Liberal shills filed complaints with the stations which had to be passed on to the FCC.

So the owners had a choice: give away air time to everyone wanting to express opposing opinions to the hosts' opinions or switch format to -- shudder - Top 40.

RE: "make us listen to an alternative"

Check out the reveiws of Cass Sunstein's book, "Republic.com," winner of 2002 New York Book Show Award.

Sunstein is a good buddy of Obama's and is up for an important czar in the Administration.

Sunstein's book does advocate government force to make us read alternate opinions on the Internet -- and he is no fan of FreeRepublic.

His latest book Nudge: Improving Decisions about . . . argues that alternatives should be structured so that government approved choices are the only ones from which citizens have to choose among, "libertarian paternalism."

That would be ironic, wouldn’t it, if we have the “Obama curtain” and we need to listen to overseas broadcasts?

Remember the days of “Radio Free Europe” broadcasting to places behind the Iron Curtain.

I wonder if somebody like Rush could set up a radio station in the Bahamas or offshore somewhere, and blast a strong signal back to America.

And, with the internet and literally millions of web sites and hundreds of millions on line, I hope that they won’t find ways to totally surpress the truth.

Because the plan is to drive broadcasters who carry conservative talk radio out of business.

"If he succeeds we better have shortwave radios so we can get uncensored news and opinion from over the Obama curtain."

He won't be happy until he silences ALL opposition. I'm sure there is a technology capable of jamming all SW radio frequencies in America. Just wait.

“Obama recently appointed to the FCC an officer that we have never had before in America. It is called the ‘Chief Diversity Officer,’ the goal of which is to make sure that on radio there is a broad diversity of opinion. Nevermind that there is no such diversity in the mainstream media, i.e., TV and newspapers.

The man that Obama appointed to be the ‘content czar’ for talk radio is Mark Loyd. Loyd wrote a book in 2006, ..... in which he proposes, among other things, that private radio broadcasters be required to pay a sum equal to their total operating costs in order to benefit public radio broadcasting.”

__________

Roger Hedgecock was talking about this last night. Our talk radio hosts are going to need all the support we can give them. Not nearly enough people listen to talk radio to have the opinions they have against it. That includes a whole lot of country club republicans, some of them my neighbors.

Any ideas about what Rush may have in mind to prevent all of this?

Probably the only way to stop it at this point is the Supreme Court.

The Democrats always seem to find a few Republicans willing to carry their water. Sometimes more than a few.

What about the Internet? Most get their information from the Internet. I listen to RUSH and LEVIN on the Internet. Is Zero going to control that too?

Need to get the issue out in there so independents and moderates who don’t listen to it can understand the dangers that are present if conservative radio is silenced. First the radio, then the internet. :(

"Why would government officials want to launch such an assault on conservative talk radio when they practically have all of the rest of the media in their hip pocket? The answer is chilling. Only tyrannical governments wish to silence the voices of dissent and totally dominate communications and media. Make no mistake about this, my friends. This is an open assault on free speech, the First Amendment, and private enterprise.”

re: Rush. Who knows, but I’m just glad he may have at least $1/2 billion “war chest” by now. (that is. if he invested wisely)

The so-called “country-club republicans” hate talk radio almost as much as the libs.

Talk radio is front and center exposing their RINO ways.

How, outside the conservative radio?

Maybe FOX.
