Sarah Palin Is Pro Amnesty For Illegal Aliens - Univision Interview [Old news, 2008]
Diggers Realm ^ | October 24, 2008

Posted on 08/09/2009 6:56:23 PM PDT by RebelYell1990

Sarah Palin finally came out and made her stance on illegal immigration clear. She is pro amnesty for illegal aliens. In an interview to Univision she stated unequivocally that she is for a pathway to citizenship. In the same interview she says she is against amnesty for illegal aliens. Have your cake and eat it to, I think that is called.

Back on the same day that John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential candidate I started investigating Palin's past on illegal immigration. I invited others to send in anything they found. There was nothing on the record. Many did write in and said that Laura Ingraham said that one time she was talking to Palin and she said she was against amnesty. That was the only statement anywhere that could be found.

Now we know that she is against amnesty, all the while she is for it with a "pathway to citizenship".

You see this is what is wrong with these people. They think they can be on both sides of the issue at once and that simply isn't possible. You are either against amnesty or you are not. If you are for a pathway to citizenship for those who have illegally entered our country then you are pro-amnesty as you have virtually absolved them of all of their illegality.

People have bashed me for questioning "the Palin". They wrote in to say that obviously she is against illegal immigration. This was all wishful thinking and like so many other issues that the politicians have avoided, until they take a clear stance don't assume anything (and even then, if they're only saying it look at their record).

Sarah Palin is in lock-step with John McCain when it comes to amnesty for illegal aliens. Her answers are almost indistinguishable from McCain's, Obama's or even the most pro-illegal alien congressman in the house, Luis Gutierrez, for that matter.

Read it and weep.

Univision

Univision: Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska? Sarah Palin: I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

Univision: As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported? Sarah Palin: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants - not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Univision: Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants? Sarah Palin: No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

Univision: To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? Sarah Palin: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

...

Univision: What is your strategy? How are you planning to win the latino vote? Sarah Palin: I will tell you, I wish that there were more hours in the day so that we can get out there and to more of the communities with such the strong Latino vote that is out there and really tell them that we desire to work for them. We are asking them to hire us and let us work for them.

Sickening we can't find a real leader in this country who cares about Americans first.

“McCain will support Obama’s open borders plan to fix immigration. He supported his closure of Gitmo. He supported Obama’s cutting of defense appropriations. He thinks we should sign on to the environmental nonsense. He has applauded Obama on numerous occasions.

Just how clear is it even now? In truth, it isn’t. McCain is an enemy of this nation. Don’t kid yourself.”

Look I agree Both he and GW put Zero in the whitehouse with their Immigration nonsense hence the nickname McQueeg that stems from those days.

Your assumption is as stupid as RebelYell's -- but at least it isn't a bald-faced lie.

Please tell me that you’re kiddig and that you’re really not this thickheaded?

What is so hard about answering the simple question I asked?

Has she said something different since then?

I've noticed a lot of posters are acting exactly like the anti-birthers. Just show the birth certificate, or in this case the quote, and the problem begins to fade.

Who the frik' isn't for a "pathway" (legal) to citizenship. THAT AIN'T PRO-AMNESTY!

I'm not.

Unemployment rates are through the roof for Americans. You haven't noticed? There are millions of Americans out of work and losing their jobs....

And you want more people here?

We are up to our butts in foreigners, legal and illegal. America desperately needs immigration reform at all levels.

In addition, we all know this "pathway to citizenship" is nothing but amnesty, and is right out of the leftist game plan.

Well your “unbiased” qualification certainly takes out the internet, newspapers, television news and reports and your own statments.

Try;
http://www.ontheissues.org/sarah_Palin.htm

http://www.rightsidenews.com/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=1992

http://www.issues2000.org/Governor/Sarah_Palin_Immigration.htm

look at her stances on what they call immigration and on Palins failure as governor to take action against Alaskan sanctuary cities. She uses the same twisted logic as Bush and McCain, dissavowing the Amnesty lable, but supporting the disengenuous and infamous path to citizenship.

I, like you, always assumed that Sarah was anti illegal aliens. I never googled the question before reading the post in Freepers. In fact there are several google sources.

Again, show me where the quotes are false.

I will not support any politician that is pro amnesty. Sarah Palin, by her own voice and actions, has supported illegals, her only anti illegals stance being that they should not have drivers licenses.

Show me where she is now opposed to illegals.

Sarah Palin on Immigration (Oct. 31, 008)
Interview w/ GRETA VAN SUSTEREN

Fox News.com ^ | Saturday, November 01, 2008 | Sarah Palin (interview)

VAN SUSTEREN: Governor, you know, before economics hit us so heavily in the last month or so as a topic, the thing that grabbed people's attention was illegal immigration. And that was the big problem for a long time. What's your thought on that? I mean, what's -- how do can we fix the illegal immigration issue in this country?

GOV. SARAH PALIN: We've got to secure the borders, and we can't be considering this broad range of amnesty that some would want. We've got to secure the borders and prove to the American people that the federal government is serious about this, and it's got to be a comprehensive approach to dealing with the immigration challenge that we have -- securing the borders, working with our border governors and mayors. They're there on the front lines, understanding what some of the solutions can be, if only they have an administration who will work with them.

And McCain has a great comprehensive approach that he wants to take to this. It includes dealing humanely, too, with the 12 million or 13 million illegal immigrants that we have today also. But until we secure the borders, I don't think Americans are even going to believe that we're serious about fixing some of the problems that are just inherent with this challenge of so many illegal immigrants here.

Now, unfortunately, with McCain's supporting proposal for this comprehensive approach to fixing problems there, there were about five poison pill amendments provided in the comprehensive approach that McCain wanted. And Barack Obama voted for those poison pills, killed the whole initiative, and we still have the problem that we have today.

Illegal immigration, though, is a perfect example of how these parties had better start working together, the D's and the R's, get it together if they're serious about addressing the problem of illegal immigration. It's not a Republican or a Democrat problem. It's all of America's issue.

Dear Senator 50D,

I am so sorry. I didn’t realize that you were the great Senator from Massatooshits. I told the boys out here and they were elated. I finally realized that if only we had perfectly enforced your perfect law we would never have had to deal with this problem. Can you ever forgive me?

Once the boys realized that they had not been perfectly enforcing your perfect law they determined to correct their error and kick it up a notch. And it’s working just as you said it would. As soon as we starting perfectly enforcing your perfect law, a whole bunch of them started running away.

And man, was it funny, you know how those people are. They had babies hangin’ from everywhere. We have run into a bit of a snag along those lines however. One group of about 500 broke down about 100 miles from here. It was so funny.

When we heard about it we figured we’d just leave them there and collect the bodies later. The guys from the morgue said they could fit more into the bags if they sat in the sun for a few days. They are so cost conscious down there. You’d be proud of them. (Oh, by the way. Could you send some extra cash? We need to hire a few more guys and a lot more bags.)

One of the guys felt that since your law was perfect, perfect enforcement would eliminate the problem posthaste, so they felt that waiting was not in keeping with the letter of your perfect law. He was right, of course, so we set out to collect the strays. Man, was that ever tough. We were lucky, however, that they hadn’t any food for several days. They weren’t up to much of a fight.

We gathered only about 250 of them and we put them on a bus. We couldn’t fit them all on, so we took the seats out and stacked them like cordwood. Fortunately, many of them were pretty gone from their little excursion so we only had to stack about 150. (Did I mention the bags?)

Now, Senator, I realize that we’re only scratching the surface here, and I promise, I’ll find those other 250, but we need a bit of a cash injection right about now. Just outside of town we’ve set up a processing camp. (The boys are calling it Camp McDonald. They are such scamps.)

Now, don’t get me wrong, they are putting up some resistance. We had quite a time with Grandma O’Connell. Man, she put up a fight. We had to Taser her twice, but we finally got her and Grandpa O’Connell on the bus. They finally seem to realize that your perfect law was right and just. I don’t think they’ll be back.

We have been experiencing some problems at the hospital, you should know. We started turning away sick kids but then we realized that since the parents were illegal, we’d take the parents right to the camp. Wow, what a mess. You know how those people are. Mrs. Flanagan alone left us with 7 sick kids. At first we refused to treat them and figured the real little ones would go quickly but then we noticed the tatts.

The three smallest ones were born here. Your tattoo program helped us sort that out quickly. So we treated the three and sent the rest off to camp with Mrs. F. We are going to need some sort of surrogate or adoption program, but I’m sure that if we read the legislation more carefully we’ll probably find it in there.

We have discovered that since we won’t treat anyone at the camps, we’ve been seeing a bit of cross contamination into the legal population and are looking for ways to process them more quickly. (As it is, we’ve been processing them as fast as we can and busing them about 300 miles east to the docks. We figure we’d let the Teamsters deal with them from there. One of the guys said that they were able to pack them into cargo ships like sardines. Those guys are a laugh riot!) Anyway, we’re going to need more help with abatement out here, so sharpen those pencils…sir, respectfully.

I know I’ve been painting a rosy picture for you, but in all honesty, there are some pockets of resistance. Those 19th Street boys have been getting by with all sorts of criminal activity and we’re in process of developing a counter offensive, but we’re short-handed right now so we have two of our best grant writers working on a proposal that would increase the number of men working the enforcement side of your great and glorious law. Like we say down here, “Perfect Law plus Perfect Enforcement equals Perfect Harmony”. When that proposal arrives we’d sure appreciate it if you’d expedite it. Sir.

Thank you, Senator. You have taught us much, but we have so much more to learn.

Your humble servant, Leo.

You too are assuming Palin did not mean what she said and what she did to suppoert illegals in Alaska.

There have been many posts on this list and thread detailing her position.

I used to assume the same thing you do, until I read her own words.

Your statment that she said the opposite if what she said and did will not cut it.

I voted for Tom Tancredo in Ames Iowa at the straw poll there. I then had the pleasure of a 5 minute private chat with Duncan Hunter. I voted for Hunter in the Iowa Caucuses.

There is no question that Palin has a pro illegal alien bias. Her erecord clearly supports that. No, there is no statue of limitations on her statemnts to that effect, tho they could be replaced by new assertions that she has changed her mind. No such assertions exist.

The issue simply never was talked about at the time as we Conservatives just assumed she was for deportation.

I rather expect that as an Alaskan, she is not all that familiar with the pain being felt in the lower 48 from the 30 million or so illegals that Obama is pushing for health care coverage for.

If she wants to have continued support from Conservatives, she will need to make a statment strongly in favor of deportation.

Now we shall have to wait and see if she will do so.
