Full disclosure: I have written a blog for the last 5 or 6 years -- and (if I do say so myself) it's not bad. In all that time, though, I've never once seen fit to link to one of my posts here. That'd be tacky and not befitting the purpose of this site.
But, there are more than several Freepers who use FR continually as a vehicle for getting hits on their blogs instead of simply linking to the article they've ripped off and riffed on. It's getting tiresome and it just clogs up the works with postings that might make a decent comment instead.
This is supposed to be a site for the exchange of ideas and not a vehicle for self-promotion. I'm sorely tempted to mention a couple of them, but we all know who they are. I skip every post by each one of them.
Damn, it's annoying and thank you for entertaining my rant. Normal programming will now resume.

I got a couple of those errors and thought that FR may
have been under attack again. It was something about
an upstream error and Somebody/thing 7. Strange.
Relevance?
That was what I got. I figured an attack.
Who the heck is eagle8?
I really don’t mind the posters who want to promote their blogs if they post in the correct place and give a decent idea of what they blog about.
I do not hunt Blogs. I come on FR.com for articles and links to articles, and comments about the same.
I do not know much about many Blogs, I only know what I like.
I set up a couple myself a few years ago, but I have little time to do any serious Blogging myself.
If the mods and the bosses out here do not mind, then I can't understand why others should care about who is promoting personal Blogs.
No idea, I thought at first I was replying to the wrong person, it didn’t make sense.
I was going to ask my comp savvy friend about it if it didn’t go away.
I don’t want to know the answer to the request of all the requests for you to name names...
If you don’t like to read blogs, don’t check out the bloggers/personal section.
However, if they are violating FR ettiquitte and posting blog stuff in the news section, then fire both barrels, notifiy the mods and shame them back into the blogger section.

When I check the URL, then check the poster’s history AND ALL of his postings lead you to his web site, I’ll occasionally say something
I’ve heard people comment about pimping a blog site and getting traffic. Don’t mean to sound dumb, but what is the benefit of traffic to a blogger site? I’ve never understood it. Do they get a “High counter” of the month award or something? A kick back for each hit?
