Since when should a state House vote determine to natural-born citizenship for someone?

You heard it right, on Monday, the Hawaii House of Representives voted to declare Obama a "Natural Born Citizen". Instead of producing the birth certificate, their vote is supposed to somehow make this official.

It was also reported that Dr. Fukino based her statement on the House vote as to Obama being "natural born and born in Hawaii". The House vote came out with a notice that "Obama was born in Hawaii, and is an American natural-born citizen".

Long-form vault copy or a House vote to provide proof of natural-born citizenship?

Give me a break. Absolutely rediculous.

A comment on rupubx website:

A state does not have the authority to amend the constitution or rewrite immigration laws. They are really getting desperate to silence the birthers, aren’t they.
They are running out of places to run and hide this issue.
Let’s keep the pressure up. They are really beginning to squirm!!
Be sure to write CNN and stick up for Lou Dobbs. I don’t care for him much, but we can not allow the left to have him terminated.
Here are some e-mail addresses...

Jim.Walton@turner.com (president of CNN Worldwide)

Susan.Grant@turner.com (executive vice president of CNN News Services)

Jon.Klein@turner.com (president of CNN/US)

Rena.Golden@turner.com (senior vice president and executive producer of CNN.com)

David.Payne@turner.com (senior vice president and general manager of CNN.com)

Mitch.Gelman@turner.com (senior vice president and senior executive producer of CNN.com)

We must use the same tactics as the forgers, just be sure to be respectful.
It is time for us to be heard...

When the Obama NBC question was brought up in the US House of Representatives, there was no objection among Republican Members.

So, it would follow that the Hawaii Legislature would follow the lead of the House Republicans and affirm their decision that Obama is a NBC.

Good God. There must be something to this. Imagine...just imagine what is going to happen if/when it is revealed he is foreign born. There is no reason for the state to do this if there is a birth certificate.

Democrats franitically trying to circumvent the constitution on the eve of some intelligence agency threatening to "out" Obama for failing to follow orders. This is serious stuff. Obama is compromised and foreign governments have the goods on him. Expect a leak...

If this was a non-issue, it would be relegated to the National Enquirer and nobody would be passing any meaningless resolutions in a frantic attempt to give him cover...

I would say it can’t. I will continue to fight to see validation of zero’s qualifications to be potus. The house has already violated the people’s trust, so we just won’t recognize it. Hell, the house is passing bills that they don’t even read, so they don’t have to acknowledge what’s in them...so I have no intention on acknowledging any concocted crapt the house has to offer now!

Strange, no? They may be trying to protect Obama under the circumstances. Imagine... POTUS subject to blackmail by foreign governments who obtained this data long before Obama was elected president... What a mess. Brought to us by the Democratic Party...

The more they pass these silly and meaningless resolution - the more it looks like The Emperor’s New Clothes which I read as a child.

They are trying too hard. The more they do stuff like this - the more I think he is a fraud.

Between Senate Resolution 511 and this House vote, I don't like what I sense might be looming. I contend that it would be unconstitutional to amend the NBC requirement via judicial means, with Marbury v. Madison as the basis for the contention. Congress is also limited constitutionally, to matters of immigration and naturalization, neither of which can be brought directly to bear upon the NBC status of any living citizen, or alien, as the case may be. Only descendants can acquire NBC status as a result of an act of Congress.

Truman fails to point out that Abercrombie-D HI at the last minute threw the Obama thing in. It was a resolution to honor HI’s 50th year in the union. At the last second they added the O resolution.

This may seem strange to us today, but at the Founding, citzenship was a matter for the States, believe it or not.

The Federal Government simply recognized each State’s standard - and there were differences - and there was reciprocity among the States.

Obviously over the past two centuries, the Federal Government has usurped a multitude of preogatives and obligations that used to belong to the several States, and this is one of them. I suppose that most of us would not object to the imposition of a common standard of citizenship acroos the nation, but this is not the way it always was. I suppose that in the absence of any explicit Constitutional provision brinbing this responsibility into the Federal orbit, a State could reassert it’s right to determine citizenship.

This move on the part of Hawaii, which may seem to many of us calling a chair an ashtray by legislative edict, may not be as outre as it would seem at first glance.

By the way, I do not approve of this act by the Hawaii legislature. I only point out that the history of this issue is not as cleanly on the Federal side as one may think.

It is truly the theater of the absurd these days in state and federal government.

By this Hawaii precedent, it should be perfectly respectable for the California state legislature to declare Arnold Swartzenegger a natural born citizen, in which case he could immediately run for president whether or not he is constitutionally elegible by virtue of his original vital documents in the USA and Austria.

Yeah, it was completely ridiculous. Reality was altered by vote... morons.

Democrats and RINOs have made this country worse than some 3rd world countries and far more embarrassing. They might as well be reading chicken bones now to determine the direction of the country.

The more they do things like this the more it looks like they are covering things up.

And there you have one of your two options.

Either, Obama is a natural born citizen.

or

The entire Republican Party, the entire SCOTUS, the former Vice President, The entire House of Representatives and almost every conservative commentator is entrenched in a conspiracy with Obama.

I wipe my ass with this 'resolution' by the State Senate of Hawaii!

The United States Constitution remains the highest Law of the Land, and IT supercedes anything the Hawaii 0bamunists attempt to enact, resolves or proclaim retroactively in behalf of the Dear Comrade.

“Democrats frantically trying to circumvent the constitution on the eve of some intelligence agency threatening to “out” Obama for failing to follow orders.”

Ummm. This is the first of two mentions in this thread, of an “intelligence agency” producing the goods on Obama. Forgive me as I've been out of circulation too long, is this intelligence agency thing wishful thinking on someone’s part (I know it is on mine), or is there some meat to it somewhere?

I know that it's always been my feeling that the intelligence folks would certainly have the power to do it, and it would be simple to have another affiliated foreign intelligence agency drop the info on O as it would keep the domestic agencies hands clean. Most likely scenario in my opinion, and becoming more likely as O’s polls decline. Best bet would be the Brits or the Frogs (as they've still got pretty strong contacts on the Dark Continent). Everyone in that “business” has favors that can be called in, and this one would be just a small favor, with massive results.

Where did this come from? If it's wishful thinking, I quite understand as my Hope is along those exact lines. I just haven't seen anything solid on it yet, and I'm unlikely to until the happy day that such an event were to actually happen.
