It is nearly impossible to go anywhere in the United States of America today and not sense the oppressive sexual culture in which we live. It is a subliminal, hypnotic barrage of immoral images, lewd language and erotic enticements that consciously and subconsciously affects our entire nation. It has gone so far that we have become a base and morally callous people. Where can anyone go today without being continuously bombarded by the 24/ 7 decadent drumbeat of this licentious orchestra? We have indeed become a Red Light District nation!
This hypnotic drum beat comes from all different sources of media: TV, radio, the internet, billboards, advertising, the music industry, the fashion world, Hollywood, the sports world, newspapers, magazines, tabloids, classrooms, college campuses, government,
.and on and on. Every facet of life has been affected. Every nook and cranny of American culture has been permeated and contaminated with this sickening vice. Teaching and preaching the moral values and virtues that are vital to preserve a healthy society brings only hate and slander from the vast secular faction here in the United States.

Excellent post. I agree with the first 6 paragraphs. But not only the religious are fed up with this - non-religious are, too. I know I am. I can't be the only one, can I?? ...... Maybe I am...
To: Pessimist
Your position is too stupid to comment on - again - please give me some examples of laws that are NOT a reflection of someone’s morality.

Mind control. Keeps people distracted.

They are all trying to make immortality acceptable and normal. The results always come out the same.. decadence. Our founding Fathers warned us of the outcome. The reprobates who promote such filth blame us for all their ills and consequences from their immoral behavior. 2+2=4 even if everybody says that that is not true.

Excellent point. I am always disgusted by the term victimless crime. As a sone of an abusive alcoholic and a brother of several drugged out siblings, I can attest to the pain and sorrow of the so-called victimless crimes. No such thing.

I do not believe that laws are for that purpose but are to provide a standard of what is to be acceptable and unacceptable behavior. It is to provide a deterence and to provide a line that when it is crossed brings in consequences. The changing and improving of moral reasoning is for the churches, families, and schools.

I wonder if there’s a non-religious solution. I don’t think it’s going to happen in our lifetime. Things just keep getting more and more depraved. Unless there were an organization that people could join, to take a stand.

There was more open prostitution and illegal gambling going on in my grandparents’ time than there is now. Hell, there was more streetwalking and adult book stores in highly trafficked areas when I was a kid in the 1980s. You rarely see streetwalkers anymore and adult bookstores are now confined to out of the way places or industrial areas.

My Friend... That was what I was trying to point out at the end of the post.. the only solution as God's Word teaches is the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ. Have Faith in Almighty God my friend and His Word. We need outside the box for intervention..Almighty God!
All of God's Best!

My friend watch this dvd called God of Wonders... It will totally change your perspective... Be objective and then you will be blown away. It's not “religion “a spiritual ideology” but a relationship to the Creator of all in spirit and truth! you will never be the same!

I live in New York City.
When my grandparents were growing up in Jersey City back in the "good old days" there was plenty of illegal gambling and prostitution, all looked at with a wink and a nod by the authorities, who were well supplied themselves. Take a guess what political party ran JC (and STILL runs it) back then?

Thanks, but I don't need to be converted.
We were talking about the scourge of pornography, not the state of my soul.
You're talking to the choir (so to speak) re pornography. But I still think there's a non-religious way to do it. I think someone would have to form an organization. But if you make it strictly religious, that will kill it. You will effectively shut out all of the non-religious (and those of other faiths, as well).
To: Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus
Perhaps so, though I would take issue with the notion that the vices don't harm other people.
It depends. For example, alcohol abuse harms others, whereas alcohol use may not. On the other side, however, laws against vices can also be harmful. Prohibition was a good example of that.
Personally, I think the term "victimless crime" is a nonsensical, though I think most issues should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to examine the damage they do to society.
I think there are. Someone sitting at home smoking a joint before bed is a victimless crime. At the same time, who decides whether something does harm to society? Is a 51% majority of people enough? Should the propaganda and lies put out by the antis matter?
The main problem I have with regulating vices is that the regulation itself is also harmful to society and it causes conflict between people.
On the other hand, a lot of people want to dictate to others how they live their life and that will be true as long as homo sapiens exist, which really means that war is the natural state of mankind.
I tend to believe live and let live to the maximum extent possible because the same reasons we outlaw drugs and prostitution can and will be used to outlaw guns and other things deemed "harmful to society".

Give me a law that’s NOT based on someone’s idea of morality.

I believe it is against the law for FedEx, for instance, to deliver 1st class mail.
BTW: I’m in awe of your debating skills!
