"If you would know a man, observe how he treats a cat."
Robert A. Heinlein
“Tom hailed the romantic outcast:
“Hello, Huckleberry!”
“Hello yourself, and see how you like it.”
“What’s that you got?”
“Dead cat.”
“Lemme see him, Huck. My, he’s pretty stiff. Where’d you get him?”
“Bought him off’n a boy.”
“What did you give?”
“I give a blue ticket and a bladder that I got at the slaughter-house.”
Proof that occasionally (rarely) Heinlein got it wrong.
I've found that observation to be accurate way more often than not.
We lost our 19 year-old cat last night. :(

Indeed Dr Michael Debakey of Houston worked closely with the astronauts to develope the medical monitoring devices which are commonplace and save many lives today!
We had to have one of ours put down yesterday. She’d been living wild for two months - walked out the door and didn’t come back - and turned up on Sunday too sick to save.
I’m sorry about your loss.
I am sorry to hear that. My sister in law(and my brother)had a Himalayan cat that they had named Rambo. 20 years of him being around and he just died in the night. They are devastated. I am not usually a cat person, but I picked up this black and white female that was hanging around the house, she was obviously starving, I fed her, she was mine after that! I worry now, she is at least 12 years old, not sure but close. I have grown quite fond of her and dread the day she either passes or I have to take her in to be put down.
Awwwwwwwwwww. He’s not only handsome, he looks intelligent. What a sweetie!
I’m sorry. I understand.
But it's always worth it.
