Estimates are that about 9,500 people die per day in America. That means thousands of special services are carried on daily to honor the departed and ponder our own mortality. When celebrities or iconic figures die we are moved on a national scale to weigh our own brief stay on the planet. But what do we actually ponder and what questions does the death of icons provoke?

mj-crotch-3 is my favorite. Look at that guy. He looks like Skeletor in a one-sy.
The question it raises for me when I see these people fawned over at death (as in life) , is why are we a culture of idol worshippers... and breaking the first Commandment?
These people were given extraordinary gifts from God and how did they use these gifts to further His Kingdom? It is this question that matters, all the rest is burned up in sacrificing time and effort to false idols.
Again, the point was to demonstrate to MJ’s defenders that he really was a sick perverted creep, and not this innocent guy who just happened to relate so much better to children. There are 10s of millions of people around the world who still love and worship the guy.
I’m not sure what your point is?
OK
A lot.
Again, the point was to demonstrate to folks like you who admire and respect MJ that he was indeed a sick SOB.
Thank you, Kimberly, for this good reminder. Jackson met with Andrae Crouch and his twin sister, Sandra, several weeks before he died. They talked, they held hands (unusual for Jackson), and prayed in the name of Jesus Christ.
Did Jackson pray the "sinner's prayer" or openly accept Christ with Andrae and Sandra? No, he didn't. But do we know what happened in the weeks afterward? No, we don't.
We don't know the state of Michael Jackson's soul at the time of his death. When I heard that he died, I prayed that he was with Jesus.
This is not going to gain me any friends either, but there is no evidence that he sexually molested children. Yes, it is incredibly wrong to sleep with children, even if it is totally non-sexual. Would I trust my nieces, nephews, and grandson with him? Heck, no.
Jackson was quite likely one of the most emotionally messed-up persons in this country. He needed serious help. I'm not defending his very bad behavior, just stating the fact that no one ever came forth with enough evidence to prove that he was a child molester.
Kimberly never said or implied anything of the sort. And neither did I, if you decide to answer my last post.
Yeah, so what. People went off the deep end when Elvis moved his hips. Woop dee doo. Jackson was an entertainer...it was a dance move...never seen him do it when he WASN’T dancing. Then, I might object.
I especially like that first picture...one of my favorite TV performances...that was to “Dangerous” at the MTV Awards.
And thank you for your thoughtful post. Unfortunately, they are few and far between.
I have been a fan of his since I was in jr. high school, but certainly not a fanatic. I’ve always been interested in law and found myself so intrigued by the case that I decided to follow it via daily transcripts. I feel that the jurors came to the right conclusion as I never found any evidence, including prior acts (Jordy Chandler), proving any of the charges against him.
I think people are fearful of what they see as wierdness and so are quick to judge. The media certainly never helped. They nearly tortured him to death. He didn’t help his own cause, but I don’t believe, due to his own naivety, he was able. He may have been the most misunderstood person ever. Sadly, even in death, his children will have to contend with the same media crap he did...something I believe he was successful in shielding them from.
I think he was trying to find it.
Just found this...thought you might be interested in watching it....Michael Jackson quotes scripture during interrogation.
