On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.
If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.
First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaskas best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.
For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and theres much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier Ive never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.
The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the politics of personal destruction. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; its about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because its right for all, including your family.
I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; Ive never thought I needed a title before ones name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!
God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference with you!
Sarah
SarahPac must have some awesome numbers...can’t wait for the report.
Go Sarah! Happy Independence Day.
Excellent! Apply for the job!
Thanks for the link...It’s a good read.
No way on the Senator thing. She is so far above the Murkowski, Begich level. Why get into a sniping campaign with either one of these pols. It would diminish her stature. Besides she is an executive, not a subordinate. Sarah’s place is to lead...not to follow.
Just sent that pic to my favorite two liberal friends...that oughta piss’em off a little....Thanks for the pic!
The problem is, back then people actually had morals and shame. All great nations fall to demoralization.
I think she’ll engineer a 2010 conservative come back in the house and Senate like Newts 1994 “Contract With America” and then proceed to kick tail in the 2012 Presidential election.
It is not like we have an abundance of conservatives that could pull this off, but she could.
Thank you, Lord. I’ve been mulling her announcement since yesterday, and came to that very conclusion. Her Facebook post seals it.
Palin/Hunter 2012
As I've said in other posts, Sun Tzu would be proud of Sarah for this brilliant strategy.
She's decisively eliminated several barriers to her family's well-being, and her long-range goals, in one fell swoop.
Saracuda, indeed!
Masterful!
Happy 4th to you too, Sarah, and to everyone here on FR.
After I heard Sarah's speech yesterday I knew she wasn't quitting politics. She was looking for the best way to fight back and chose a certain unconventional course of action, and perhaps that is the best way to go. Remember, to run for Governor again, she had to decide pretty fast since the election is in November 2010 - that's only 1 year and 3 months from now.
God bless you, Sarah.
Doesn’t sound like a quitter!
You go Governor.
All she left out of her McCain remark was “Bless his heart”
LOL!
The MSM's problem, is that they disaffected most right-leaning Americans before Sarah ever stepped upon the national stage. Their savaging of her only cinched the deal with us.
She belongs to us. Not to them. There is nothing they can say about Sarah that will sway the conservative majority in this country, because most of us aren't listening to them anymore, anyway.
As another poster said, the technology is such at this time, that Sarah can bypass the traditional media entirely, and go straight to the people, unadulterated and un-spun.
Hers may be the very first 100% non-MSM presidential campaign in history. They're irrelevant now, as her coming campaign for the presidency will prove.
LOL! Probably just needs the roots done. I’m due next week. ;)
If she is no longer the AK governor and holds no office at all the MSM will look even more petty and ridiculous than it does now if it continues to bring her up and attack her. And they will.
How lovely would it be if the first target on her list is to destroy the MSM?
OK, does that put to bed the stupidity that Gov. Palin is “getting out of politics”? Yes, I know her comment were authentically heartfelt, but it is also a statement, to wit: Gov. Palin isn’t even close to quitting on those of us who care about the Real America (ie the Constitution) and those who serve Her (America)...
Could it be a third party run?
