How A “Dead” Conservative Movement is Beating the Democrats

Much has been said about how the Republican Party and the Conservative Movement is a dying—if not dead—political party. Far from it.

America is changing. Changing, indeed. If anything, the nation is moving in the Right direction.

Sometimes a kick to the head is what’s needed to make people wake up and face reality. It happened in 1980, and it’s happening now.

The conservative movement is not a political party. It is a set of principles acted upon.

Somebody better wake up and realize what they’re dealing with here.... The dems do not think in terms of winning on substance or ideas. They win via every sort of device and trick, technique and the like. The whole world expected them to get blown out of the 98 race right after the giant scandals and they actually won that one, having perfected their “knock and drag” system just prior to the race.

I look at it this way--the Gallup polls which claim that "only" 21 percent of Americans identify themselves as Republicans? While that may be so, and I'll certainly identify myself as a conservative 100 times before a Republican once, there's a little more than the MSM tells you.

They also don't say that this is the lowest number since 1983. Hmmmm...who won 49 states a year later? Thanks for playing, MSM--what do we have for our losers today, Johnny?

Furthermore: the conservative movement is not the Republican Party as they are just a political vehicle which often CLAIMS to be in support of such a movement but is often not.

OK, how do conservatives beat the Republicans?

Now, there's the real question, properly stated.

By getting our ideas out. By turning the GOP BACK into the party of Reagan and away from the McCain/Powell/RINO milquetoasts they want to become.

The Republican party will have to crawl back to conservatives or be left behind. Conservatives have had enough of BS Rinos.

OK, how do conservatives beat the Republicans?

Step one: Make a firm and unchangeable commitment to stop the compromise, and to only support candidates who adhere to the clear principles upon which our republic was founded, no matter what.

Step two: Act on that commitment, in concert with all who have made the same commitment.

It's the carrot and the stick. The clear and unmistakable message sent to the entire politcal establishment will be "nominate true conservatives and you can count on our votes. Nominate liberals, and you can count on our opposition."

Close caucuses. Close primaries. Petition for change of dates/times for primaries in far western states. would these help?

They're certainly a start. But then again, you'll have the libtards registering as Republicans to pump up the numbers of the Ron Paul types as well.

One of my biggest concerns is that Iowa and New Hampshire are at best moderate, if not "blue" states and yet all the momentum is put there. Why? Also, the campaign season gets earlier and earlier. What we need to do (not that the states will EVER agree to it) is to have several "Super Tuesdays" with rotation of states, so that no one state or group of states can determine the campaign before it ever really begins. This is why guys like Thompson never really stood a chance.

Conservatives are the Republicans. The problem is that we have allowed a liberals to gain power over the party. When conservatives really want to take our party back, it is there for the taking. We have the numbers. What we lack is the will and organization.

ANSWER: By co-opting the Republican Party just like the Socialists co-opted the Democratic Party.

This is actually true. There are three legs of the conservative stool: foreign policy, social issues, and economic issues.

Foreign policy is over. Bush’s anti-terrorism will be practiced by future administrations.

Social issues are over. When given a chance to vote, people vote against gay marriage and all. More and more people are not for abortion. Much of this is due to the increase of hispanics which do not agree at all with the New England attitude for social issues.

Economic issues is where the debate is. However, this is a temporary one. Social Security and Medicare *will* crash. California state is already crashing. Government will not be seen as the answer. Young people know that starting your own business online is a good idea. There is intense interest among the young about financial education. Why? Because they never received it in school.

For more evidence, note how Democrats keep looking backwards, never forward. Obama wants to be FDR, not Obama. Stale Industrial Age rhetoric is overflowing. This rhetoric is on its last legs. We are in the Silicon Age, not the Industrial Age.

The Blue states are in decline. The red states, especially the south, are booming.

The ideology holed up in New England dies. Federalist Party, died. Whigs, died. Free Soil, Free Men, died. McKinley coalition, died. Rockefeller Republicans, died. Liberals being up there is not a good sign for them.

One political party believes in abortion and mass contraception. The other does not believe in abortion and is more favorable to having children. The demographics will not go the liberals’ way. Even hispanics, who might only disagree with the economic leg of the conservative stool, live and act more like conservatives. Hispanics overwhelmingly supported Bush when he ran for Texas governor. They also vote against gay marriage.

The future is, indeed, quite bright.
