Over the past few years, a new technology has sprung up: Search Engine Optimization, or SEO.
It is the creation of Internet Marketers, and Spammers, who seek ways to get our attention, to defeat spam blockers, and to zero in on our individual demographic and perhaps more important, psychographic profiles.
At its worst, it is an invasion of privacy on an unprecedented scale. It invades e-mail by using spyware to build specialized vocabularies for every customer. It looks over browser inquiries, even private correspondence with commercial entities.
Then, SEO techniques are able to help create messages, using key words, or even weirder, using key words in no particular order and with no meaning whatsoever, to precede an advertiser's e-mail. That's to make sure it evades Spam-Blockers and that the message shows up on the potential customer's screen. There are programs available to develop and use these key word databases, and in general, they are used by SEO companies to further the interests of their clients.
The more reputable among these firms (relatively speaking) also use focus groups, carefully recording their comments, and developing keywords that peak interest in specific target audiences.
This is precisely why POTUS is Teleprompter dependent. Every word of every speech has been very carefully keyed. It is the ultimate application of Pavlovian psychology to communications. The key words are the stimuli. The response of the audiences is to hear exactly what they have already said they want to hear.
Like the key words preceding a sales e-mail, the words in an Obama Teleprompter talk need not follow logic, or anything else. They are word-bombs.
This could explain why Obama has developed a reputation as an orator, when his words read in print make absolutely no sense. When they are heard, especially by a particularly supportive audience, they assume oracular status.
The keywords fit the mental locks of the believers, most certainly. But they also do a wonderful job of bringing along those who do not know what to believe, or have no grasp of factual aspects of the topic.
It is apparent (to me, at least) that this effort has been very well researched and brilliantly developed. I wager that a substantial amount of the $1 billion raised for the Obama campaign went into it, or was supplied by supporters like George Soros.
The POTUS's speech vs. Dick Cheney's is therefore a perfect example of the new communication technique in opposition to the old. Cheney spoke in measured, logical cadences, laying out his case, buttressing it with facts, and asking the audience to weigh the evidence.
Obama did no such thing. He doesn't have to. A new technology makes every word true to his audience, because his audience, whether they know it or not, wrote the speech; the very words his writers put on the Teleprompter.
It is what is happening in Marketing and its use in politics is inevitable ... and unfortunate. Telling an audience what it wants to hear is not a new idea. This is the most effective way developed to date.
ZERO is talking to his ignorant voters ... Every time you hear him, you have to put on your ignorant hat. It’s what Hugo Chavez does.
The keywords are developed by powerful servers that constantly ping other websites at high rates of speed, developing ways in, and developing the strategies that wil cause search engines to put the customers web site first, or at least high on the list.
It's also for sale, and it's in court. In essence, it can be used to compromise a competitor's Marketing by sending leads your way, using the other guy's data!

Right on target!
If his audience were paying attention to his speeches, they would have noticed the obvious contridictions. I can’t listen to any of his speeches without getting whiplash!
My favorite explaination:

If I see him ONE MORE TIME on TV today, I think I'd rather huff ether, so as to become indifferent and forget what his smug arrogant face looks like.
Here is a "Hope" I have not seen explored:
Overexposure and saturation.
That is the potentially evil genius of this technology at work. 53% of the voters went for Obama. All of them are not ignorant. They heard what they needed to hear, because they told Obama's team exactly what that was. It is personal marketing ... narrowcasting as opposed to broadcasting.
What they heard didn't have to make sense. And, it never will.
interesting hypothesis
I always thought it was because libs were stupid nd evil.
Listening to the utter nonsense that comes out of Obama’s mouth is painful. Having people tell me he’s a genius and a great orator and the savior of our nation is even more painful. Even worse, people think I’m crazy when I point out the discontinuities, ambiguities, and outright contradictions between his statements, actions, and ideologies.
Obama is a religious figure in his own right at this point, at least from the perspective of a non-believer observing the cult of Obama-mania.
Don't count on it. People just love to hear their own thoughts played back to them.
I met one such stupid just this AM. Got in her face and called her dumb for believing ZERO. Did me more good than her. She was definitely too stupid to know how stupid she is.
Unfortunately, if you read the founders extensively, this is the one flaw in the whole Republic. They thought it acceptable, because they saw character as the one requirement for a President and leader. They were wrong — The one word you will never associate with Obama is character.
Dictatorship and tyranny ahead, run by a two bit tin horn. People better wise up fast.
Evil? Well yeah. Stupid? Nope. It takes a lot of smarts to organize and lead the stupid.
I absolutely believe it. I also think his cadence is somewhat hypnotic. It reminds me of the “preacher technique” of ending every other word or so in ‘uh’ to lull you into a hypnotic pace.
Sounds like what we used to call dating...

And in support of “narrow-casting” is the fact that only 32% of the elgible voting citizens of the USA voted for Obama.
And if that 32% just wants to hear the right sound-bite or buzz-word, or even the absense of negative phrases, then ya got em.
This is an interesting strategy to look at from the perspective of how Obama is pissing off the left, too.
His mouth moves and says all the key words, then he does whatever the heck he chooses.
After a while the dating ends and character, behavior and true personality becomes really important and very apparent.
Try living in Massachusetts.
They have PhDs and drool. Complete denial, complete bliss.
Who can deny that there is a strong homo-erotic undertone to the Left's incredible fascination with this Obama? It's not just Chris Mathew's "wet leg," or whatever, it's the way they just gush and simper about the guy. Disgusting. I loved Eisenhower, but not in that way!
BTW, low turnouts always favor the Dems. Not only is fraud easier to manage and easier to conceal, but it is even easier to turn out the base and make their votes really count.
And if that doesn't work .... count'em again.
ping - I must go back later and read in-depth!
dittos the Mass-holes, they infect NH like a plague.
Talking to them, it’s almost like they don’t have a functioning brain.
And they will make it into Mass. "For The Children". Just like the California escapees did to neighboring states.
They foul their nest, then flee, then repeat.
