Stung by criticism that his spending program will bankrupt the country, President Barack Obama promised to “put the screws to the bureaucracy” by asking his cabinet heads to “try to find, if you can, either a way to cut $100 million from the operating budget or to plausibly justify why it is impossible.”
Despite skepticism in many circles, the President said he was optimistic “we can get this done, probably.”
One idea gaining favor is to send out Social Security checks “postage due.” “It would save the government only 42 cents per mailing,” Obama admitted, “But there are millions of mailings every month and, you know, the $100 million we’re trying to cut comes to only 35 cents per American. So, surely we can squeeze this much out of the budget, I hope.”

Gads, folks a math homework problem for the night: Divide $100 million by $7 trillion and provide me with the percentage.
Is Obama that stupid? Most certainly.
The question of the day is, are we that stupid also?
As I heard Neil Boortz say, $100 million is an insulting token of a “cut”. The Department of Agricultires budget alone is 1000 times as much as the “deep cuts” they are looking for.
This sounds pretty miniscule to me. Let’s see, “I want you people to decrease spending by $100 billion while you increase it by several trillion.” The horrors! Will there be no end to tough decisions???
Obviously $100 million is much greater than $1 trillion to any Obama voter and acolyte. Please do not tell such people that $1 trillion is 1,000,000 times $1,000,000. You may cause them to flee to a phycyratrist, and then a lawyer to sue you.
