Gibbs Justifies Flying Chef from St. Louis
A Semi-News/Semi-Satire from AzConservative ^ | 11 April 2009 | John Semmens

Posted on 04/11/2009 7:40:28 PM PDT by John Semmens

With many top notch pizza restaurants in the Washington DC area, people have been questioning the propriety of flying a chef all the way from St. Louis to bake 20 pizzas for a bash thrown at the White House by President Barack Obama. The added expense during these times of financial crisis strikes observers as unnecessarily ostentatious.

“Well, you know that the President is the ruler of all the United States,” Press Secretary Robert Gibbs reminded critics. “It is his prerogative to exploit all of the resources of the realm. It just so happens that he took a fancy to the pizzas prepared by Mr. Sommers during a campaign stop in St. Louis last Fall.”

Gibbs took issue with contentions that the President should have to settle for anything but the best. “He’s the leader of the free world,” Gibbs declared. “He could fly someone in from Italy if he wanted. He’s got the hardest job in America. That ought to entitle him to a few perks.”

There may be other symbolism at work. The specific pizza requested was the “Hyde Park,” which is topped with chicken and hot sauce. Wags are suggesting that this pizza is meant to convey the Administration’s foreign policy shift from that of the Bush Administration.

I really try not to be negative but this Gibbs character is an absolute moron - can you imagine if a Bush Press Secretary spoke like this?

A simple answer would’ve been to say that Obama paid for this whole thing out of his pocket. Not this leader of the free world, hardest job in America crap.

Is is satire to expose the way Gibbs and the rest of Bambi’s syncophants really do think?

Obama, Pelosi, Reidm et al have crucified the CEOs of automakers for taking private jets to go ask for bailout money. What is “bailout money” for the USA Federal government? Printing more money. And Obama flies chefs in. Hypocrisy once again.

Well, you know that the President is the ruler of all the United States,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Tyrannies have “rulers”.

Americans **elect** presidents to administer the Executive Office.

Wow! Is this Obama’s mindset? He is our **ruler**?

UNBELIEVABLE!

Imagine what would be said if a Bank CEO was to be this excessive. Oh yeah, Aunt Esther planted a Freedom Garden so $200,000 pizzas are ok.

Happy Easter

Limousine liberals are all the same. All for me, none for thee.

“Let them eat cake”....

Suppose this will end the same way for Hussein Obama as it did for Louis and Marie Antionette?

If Bush was still Prez, this story would be NYT front-page headline for a week . . . and it wouldn’t be satire - NYT would be outraged!

I don’t approve of flying a chef some 800 miles to make a pizza, but being a resident of DC Metro I do have to say that our pizza is really terrible.

You can count on one hand the number of pizza joints that are constantly being argued about as “the best” on the Chowhound and eGullet forums. And none of them are really up to the standard of the lowliest NJ or NYC pie. Or Chicago. Or even the oddball Boston “greek pizza”.

Zer0 could have had someone drive down from New Jersey if having a good pizza was his goal.

Satire is really, really hard when people like Gibbs and Pelosi are so close to satire themselves that even astute readers are fooled. It must be difficult to keep it in the realm of reality and still be a caricature of the real person. My hat is off to you. (P.S., you briefly got me on the Obama Boy Scout group. ;o))
