VIDEO: Eric Cantor Skips Obama Press Conference; Goes to Britney Spears Concert

Republican Leader Rep. Eric Cantor is unimpressed with all the uproar over the revelation that he attended a Britney Spears concert while President Obama convened the second primetime news conference of his presidency.

"I don't know why that's an issue whatsoever," said the House Minority Whip. "There was a concert and I had a political event at that concert. Look, that is why I was there."

I love how Wolf Blitzer and the CNN crew try to mock Cantor. I think Cantor's explanation is great.

And who cares? There's 800 Billion things I would rather have done than watch Obama's News Conference, the most boring hour in the history of television!

Good for Cantor! I don't blame him for missing the news conference; I just wish I hadn't forced myself to suffer through it.

Besides, what's the real difference? Britney lip syncs and Obama teleprompter syncs!

If you don’t bow to Chairman Mao, then you are going to catch the wrath of the state media.

There is something creepy about a middle aged guy going to a Britney Spears concert...

I guess Rep. Cantor is trying to prove that he can survive the enhanced interrogation techniques we used against the terrorists in Club Gitmo.

Well, Britney does speak without a teleprompter. No doubt, it was a more intelligent crowd.

There is something creepy about ANYONE going to a Britney Spears concert.

At least Cantor raised some cash for his PAC.

waiting for paint to dry and grass to grow is more informative and intellectually stimulating and dare I say, factually accurate than watching and listening to Barry read from a prompter.

Don’t worry, with what Brittany’s been up to, she’s already a middle-aged woman.

I’d also rather go to a Britney Spears concert than listen to Obamarx.

Why? I hear she's been keeping her clothes on lately. And she hasn't had "car problems" for a while. Maybe her show improved also.

Which Freeper can point out the obvious problem with how Eric Cantor approached responding to this?

It would have been one thing if he said something to the effect of.....

well, look this is the same thing being read from the prompter over and over and over. And whatever piece of legislation he brings up will pass anyhow because of the partisan politics and wealth confiscation this administration uses as an SOP.

Of course this is the guy that took the moral high-ground against the first round of bailouts under W and then voted for them as soon it was loaded up with pork.

Republicans complaining of "partisan politics" is code for "our pork wasn't added."

Above and beyond missing the "presser," I think the Dems are more ticked he's poaching their self centered, strung out, single-mother constituents.

Spears is easier to listen to than Obama (and I don’t particularly care for her music). Does she use a teleprompter?
