Obama's Solar Panels Will Take 110 Years to Pay For Themselves

Here's something you won't hear about from the Obamedia-

The solar panels that Barack Obama and Joe Biden inspected before signing the Generational Theft Act in Denver, Colorado will take until 2118 to pay for themselves.

Those solar panels that Barack Obama bragged about in Denver will take 110 years to pay for themselves. They are expected to last 20-25 years.

The Independence Institute reported, via LGF:

Before signing the $787 billion stimulus package into law on Feburary 17, 2009, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden toured an array of solar panels on top of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. The photo-op allowed the President to once again extol the virtues of the coming “green” economy.

Well, the green-o’s won’t let obama put his solar panels anywhere on earth; but I can tell him where to put ‘em. Only one problem: the sun don’t shine there.

Think it was about 20 years for a nuke plant to pay for itself. Can’t remember for sure, there was much discussion about it last summer, but now it’s a back burner issue.

Are you fraking kidding me? Last only 25 years but takes 110 to pay for em? That's not a good idea, that's idiocy.

It’s a shame they don’t provide the math for that 110-year-payback figure. The typical “payback” calculation simply takes the cost of the new installation to get a price per kWH, then compares that to the slightly higher cost per kWH of the current system. It ignores either the interest being paid on the loan to purchase the system or the lost opportunity cost of paying for the system up front vs paying for the conventional electricity over time.

This is why it’s so important to lock up new US domestic oil and gas supplies & to phase out thermal coal nuclear power. The payback period for solar power will be much shorter, when oil is selling for over $150/bbl again & when power plants can’t burn coal, or use nuclear power.

You know...if he really wanted to impress people...he’d put solar panels on the White House and then attempt to run the WH without electricity other than what they create. Make an example of the place....show the public. And then if Congress wants to make an example...they’ll put solar panels over their building.

The odds of any of this happening? Zero. And that says the whole story.

No, we are supposed to be forced to without so he can crank the WH heat up enough to grow orchids.

But ya know, poor Barry Soetero is from Hawaii...so we have to understand, don’t ya know.

Solar panels and wind power are just feel good programs that provide a small fraction of our energy demand. A waste of time and money. We need research and development of real power sources.

Die liberale Demokraten want power to govern and limit the power we now have. Finding a practical source of energy may result in energy surplus. That world make government regulation unnecessary.

Its about power, not energy.

“Obama’s Solar Panels Will Take 110 Years to Pay For Themselves”

Not if you jack up the price of oil 5 - 8 times what a functioning market says it should be - as ZeROT wants to do.

Yeah, well, Jimmuh Carter when presented with several schemes for the White House solar collectors opted for the one that was most visible from the street..and that had a 200+yr ROI..assuming the equipment lasted that long.

It’s a shame they don’t provide the math for that 110-year-payback figure.

A friend of mine designed a solar collection system for his new home. He did it because he loves being challenged by difficult projects, not because of some evironmental fanaticism. He said that the system should break even about the time one of his grandchildren passes the house onto one his great grandchildren.
