Hey all you FReepers. My son is getting married in January of 2010. I would like some suggestions about a mother/son dance besides Boy of Mine/Bing Crosby.
Just so we have a little insight for your thought process. My son is a product of my first marriage (shotgun wedding that lasted a couple years). My current husband and I have been married almost 19 years now, and is the man that raised him since he was 3. We are a very close family. We are devout practicing Catholics. I am looking for some song that will speak to strong family values, and love between a mother and a son. I am hoping some of you old timers or hard core country lovers might have a few names of songs/artists I can start looking into.
For one instance, the song "There Goes My Life" would be great if it was about a Mother/Son, instead of a Father/Daughter.
If any of you know Kenny, and he would be willing to record a special version for me........ :) ( a girl can dream, can't she)
Anyhow, any and all suggestions would be appreciated, just please list song title/artist/ and album so I can find it! Thanks for all your help!
I HOPE YOU DANCE - Womack
The serene “Wango Tango” from noted musician Theodore Nugent would be a good choice
My son and I are dancing to “When you say nothing at all” by Allison Kraus and Union Station because it has a special meaning for us.
Type “Mother son wedding dance songs” into Google and you’ll get a great list. I didn’t click on any, but there were a lot when I looked. Many you can play to hear.

“I’ll always be your mother” is beautiful!
This is a special day
When two are joined as one
I love my new daughter
Ill always love you son
Care for each other
Be faithful till the end
Follow whats in your heart
May you always stay best friends
Chorus:
Its the start of your new life
As husband & wife
Hope the good days outshine the bad
May laughter brighten the sad
Know Im here for you
To help or just talk to
Believe in each other
Ill always be your mother
The day will be here soon
When youll have Kids to love
God will watch over you
From heaven up above
Pray for patience & wisdom
To give your kids your best
Youll teach them right from wrong
Theyll bring you happiness
Chorus
Bridge:
Ill always be your mother, it completes my life
My tears are filled with love, for you & your new wife
You are a caring son, Ill forever be proud of
Cherish your new bride, we can always share your love
Chorus:
Its the start of your new life
Believe in each other
Ill always be your mother
Another one:
“One moment in time”
by Whitney Houston
Each day I live
I want to be a day to give the best of me
I’m only one, but not alone
My finest day is yet unknown
I broke my heart for every gain
To taste the sweet, I faced the pain
I rise and fall,
Yet through it all this much remains
I want one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams
Are a heart beat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel, I will feel eternity
I’ve lived to be the very best
I want it all, no time for less
I’ve laid the plans
Now lay the chance here in my hands
Give me one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams
Are a heart beat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel, I will feel eternity
You’re a winner for a lifetime
If you seize that one moment in time
Make it shine
Give me one moment in time
When I’m more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams
Are a heart beat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will be, I will be, I will be free
I will be, I will be free
Can you tell I’m a wedding photographer, LOL!
I’ve heard them all I think.
“The Man you’ve become” by Gloria Sklerov and Barbara Rothstein. You can do a youtube search and hear it and see if you like it....I think you might. Good luck. I really like it and wished I knew about it when I got married for my mother/son dance.
This was one a song picked to dance to with his mom. It is from the son to the mother.
The Dance by Garth Brooks
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you’d ever say goodbye
And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I’d of had to miss the dance
Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn’t I the king
But if I’d only known how the king would fall
Hey who’s to say you know I might have changed it all
And now I’m glad I didn’t know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I’d of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I’d of had to miss the dance
“My Wish” by Rascal Flatts it’s awesome and says it all.
I gave her that one too...I really like it. lol.
It worked for us.
The man you’ve become
Big wheels, hot wheels
Little trucks and cars
Skinned knees, climbing trees
Wishing on the stars
Moments may be lost somewhere in time
But the sweetest memories are never left behind
Now you’ve grown so fine
And come so far...
CHORUS:
I’m so proud of who you are
The man you’ve become
Thrilled to share your deepest joy
To know you’ve found the one
For the great things you will do
I’ll be blessed ?cause you’re my son
But I’ll always see the boy
In the man you’ve become
School days, sleep-aways
Driving all alone
Phone calls, shopping malls
Late coming home
It was hard to know when to let you spread your wings
When to let you got to face the challenges life brings
But you’ve grown so fine
And come so far...
Ok, I guess I pestered you enough now.
