Thinking of relocating to Tx
DEMOCRAT.
Fort Worth is 40 minutes away and is a much better city.
Huge, hot, dry, traffic, blue stars everywhere...that’s all I remember.
Don’t live in Dallas, I live in Denton County and it’s much better there. It’s pretty much right in the middle of the metroplex, so you are about 30 minutes away from anything.
Dallas ... big and flat. What part of the area are you looking at? Conservative Collin County is just north of there. Tarrant County, as mentioned, is conservative.
And where are you moving from?
Life is too short to live in Dallas. Move to Tarrant County (Fort Worth) or one of the surrounding conservative areas.
Very, very poor schools! Crime rate way above average! Move east, north or west of Dallas. Mid cities area between Dallas and Ft. Worth and you are generally in a good area.
Just as an aside, 76180 zip code has the most licensed Concealed Carry permits issued in the state (or did have a couple of years ago). Not that they have shown a need but the protection is there!
The city itself is Democrat, however the surrounding suburbs are generally pretty conservative. Overall cheap housing and lower cost of living than most places. Unemployment numbers are better than most places and Texas is not in the RED in terms of the state’s economy.
Moved from Boston in the early 80’s and have never looked back. I live 30 mi NW of downtown Dallas in a small suburb called Highland Village.
Texodus... in the air?
Do NOT move to the City or County of Dallas. Poor schools, lots of illegals, sorry local governments.
However, there are lots of suburbs within 30-40 miles (I live in Allen, Collin County) without those problems.
There is no state income tax but property taxes on owned houses will run you about 1% of appraised value per year.
A nice ranch-style house will cost you about $85-100/sq ft. Two story will be a little less per sf.
Sales tax rates from the state and localities are about 8.25%.
Come on down. AC is a MUST 6 months of the year.
It a lone blue county, as is Harris and Travis.
Lots of queers.
Austin is a much better place can’t go wrong.
You Could always live in my “racist” town of Farmers Branch.
I've lost all I owned and will be coming in with nothing but lint and change in my pocket, but I cannot spend another minute in this hell hole.
suburbs are much, much better. Collin County, just north of Dallas, is one of the most conservative counties in Texas. There you will find Plano, Allen, McKinney, Frisco, and the like. I guarantee you will be happier in a suburb than in Dallas proper.
Is that anywhere near “White Settlement”?
(Yes, I know it is.....)
#10 was for you.
Oh well, Geez!!!
Moving from Boston?
Then ANYPLACE in Dallas will be a major improvement.
