Here's the problem. I defragmented, as usual, and restarted my computer. For some reason, my widescreen monitor went back to it's original "stretched" form.
I cannot remember how I fixed this problem when I first installed the monitor, just remember it was an SOB to fix and a fluke that I got it right.
Please, any advise or fix would be greatly appreciated.

LOL
Hit Start
Hit Control Panel
Hit Display
Hit Settings and then adjust your display output.
Hahaha. Should have seen that one a mile away!
Safe mode? If so, watch the start up screen. You'll find you have a choice to use normal mode.
I'm not a techno nerd, but I know what the safe mode is.
I did that, it made it not “stretchy”, but doesn’t look “normal”.
That’s the way to fix it.
Flagg concurrs.
(I’ve had to do this for many people at work)
Try all of the settings available in the pulldown menu and see which one works to get it back the way you had it.
I did that, it made it not stretchy, but doesnt look normal....
Don’t use so much starch!....
No, not safe mode. When I originally installed this monitor, it had the widescreen stretchy look. I just can’t remember how the heck I fixed it to make it look normal.
I do remember the fix was a fluke. I had no idea what I was doing back then either, lol.
It would help to know what the resolution actually is (1440x900 or 1280x1024) rather than stretchy and normal. The instructions Obadiah posted take you to where you can get what the current resolution is.
There are probably several different modes and options available to you in Control Panel > Display. You may have to tweak a bit to find one that looks right.
Once you find one that was ‘close’ to the way you had it before, most widescreen LCD monitors have an ‘Auto Config’ type option, that will auto-adjust and format the display on the monitor to the most optimal settings for that resolution, so you will want to run this option as well.
Okay, I took the advise and did it. It’s much better, but doesn’t look the same as it did prior. However, this is MUCH better than the “stretch”. Thanks!!
Reinstall your video/graphics driver then do what was stated in post 5.
Increasing the resolution corrects aspect ratio distortion in widescreen LCD monitors, but it also shrinks icons and text. Is this what you mean about not looking “normal?” You can elect to make the icons and text larger, or you can step down in resolution incrementally, until it looks “right” but not distorted.
Just go into the DISPLAY PROPERTIES and change your resolution to match your monitor. It varies a little bit depending on which version of Windows you’re running, but generally speaking you can get there from XP by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing PROPERTIES, then the SETTINGS tab. In Vista, you right-click the desktop and choose PERSONALIZE.
