my widescreen monitor went back to it's original "stretched" form.Safe mode? If so, watch the start up screen. You'll find you have a choice to use normal mode.
I'm not a techno nerd, but I know what the safe mode is.

It would help to know what the resolution actually is (1440x900 or 1280x1024) rather than stretchy and normal. The instructions Obadiah posted take you to where you can get what the current resolution is.

Reinstall your video/graphics driver then do what was stated in post 5.

Just go into the DISPLAY PROPERTIES and change your resolution to match your monitor. It varies a little bit depending on which version of Windows you’re running, but generally speaking you can get there from XP by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing PROPERTIES, then the SETTINGS tab. In Vista, you right-click the desktop and choose PERSONALIZE.

Thank you fellow FReepers, even you snarky. I took your advise and my monitor is no longer stretchy!!!
As for Mr. Snark, you were correct, but you didn’t have to be such a jerk about it.
Thanks!!!

Have you tried the obvious “turn it on and off.”
You’d be amazed at how often this works.

Did you ever come to the right place. You should have advise flowing your way soon. Wish I could advise but anything I advise may only confuse the issue more. Good luck.

I'm afraid the only thing that you can do in this situation is reformat your hard drive then reload Windows.
