my widescreen monitor went back to it's original "stretched" form.

Safe mode? If so, watch the start up screen. You'll find you have a choice to use normal mode.
I'm not a techno nerd, but I know what the safe mode is.

No, not safe mode. When I originally installed this monitor, it had the widescreen stretchy look. I just can’t remember how the heck I fixed it to make it look normal.

I do remember the fix was a fluke. I had no idea what I was doing back then either, lol.
