Taxing the rich at 100% won't pay for Obama's budget. The Wall Street Journal has reported that taxing the rich at 100% won't pay for Obama's budget. Barack Obama promised not to raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000 per year. Where is he going to get the money? The numbers indicate Obama will need to take 100% of the income of everyone making over $75,000.

President Obama is either a fool or a liar when he says he won't have to raise taxes on anyone making over $250,000.

He is going to get a lot of it from carbon taxes. Deliberately higher prices on energy and everything that uses energy is a form of tax. Obama’s use of language is beyond Clintonian.

“President Obama is either a fool or a liar when he says he won’t have to raise taxes on anyone making over $250,000. “

He’s both. He’s a fool for embracing marxist ideology and he is a liar because he knows that his numbers don’t add up.

Hey - if 100% taxation won’t do it, how about 200%? I’m sure his supporters will go for that!!

“Obama’s use of language is beyond Clintonian.”

Yes — it’s Orwellian.

I certainly hope that the US government break into the secrecy code of the Swiss banks where a lot of ill gotten tax evaded wealth is stored. Am sure a lot of politicians also have goodies stacked away there which is why this move will never fructify.

This is going to cause high earners to think about life, choices, and the future - with bad results for Obama. They are going to start to realize that time off is worth more than the incremental pittance in income they can obtain by working more than the 'penalty point'.

Until a year or so ago, I worked only 60% time at my job and found life to be so much easier, 3 days a week. Sometimes I took both Mondays and Fridays off and only worked the middle stretch. It turned out that the corresponding drop in salary (you'd guess 40%) really wasn't proportional to what I'd stopped working. In fact, I was really getting paid appreciably less for the two extra days I worked because of taxes.....so my paycheck was nearer to 70% of full time instead of 60%......with Obama and his plans, people are going to start thinking a lot more about alternatives like this.

I’m sick of Obummer talking about how he’s going to give money to the poor. That’s such old marxist ideological rhetoric and I’m “poor” meself! He sucks wind.

He’s just grandstanding his own ideology. Gawd, I can’t wait for the REVOLT in this country.

I thought he was quoted as saying he won’t have to raise taxes on anyone making UNDER $250,000.

But I agree with the sentiment.

Any continuous curve where f(x1)=0 and f(x2)=0 has at least one maximum for f(x) between x1 and x2.

Its mathematically provable. California and Zero will find out the hard way that higher tax rates do not necessarily produce higher revenue. Unfortunately americans hitched their wagon to those who are bad at math.

Hopefully the revolt will be at the ballot box. The republicans have to mobilize at the grass roots level to hinder the massive left wing fraud machine.

We (conservatives) should form a non-profit organization to counteract ACORN. Perhaps devise a creative acronym that fits into “SQUIRRELS” :)

I don't - to the contrary, I hope that there are more places to put ones' wealth where the government thieves can't steal it. The amount of earnings confiscated by the government far exceeds the cost of its constitutionally mandated duties.

The only "ill-gotten, tax-evaded wealth" that I see is in the form of welfare given to the lazy base of the democrat party year after year.

And, those “deliberately higher prices” will be paid by the consumer.

Businesses DON’T pay taxes...they pass along tax burdens in their pricing structures.

This $hit has got to stop. It’s time to take back the country.

I suggest as many people as possible contact RINO Senators Collins and Snowe, ask them how we will pay for all of this and give us a timeline on when it will be paid for. I wouls also ask them about NoBamas pledge not to raise taxes on Middle Income taxpayers. Lets hold these RONO’s feet to the fire!

The revolt should also be hundreds of thousands of people refusing to send in their taxes

ACORN is more pervasive than we know it to be andI’ll bet ya’ a dime to dollar a part of that group will be the foundation for his “national civilian security force”. At first, invading your community, 2nd:re-education and some sort of mandatory participation 3rdly:weeding out dissenters 4thly:
off to “camp” you go. Now, don’t get me wrong on “camp”
literally-that will take shape in manyforms.
imho

Expect energy rates for rust belt states served by coal in the Illinois basin to go up by 2-300% if no 0 cost allowances are granted.

Rates will have to rise otherwise utilities will not be able to attract capital. Of course Bambi doesn’t want rates to rise because people will scream bloody murder and industry will seek states with lots of nuclear generation. Gas will continue to be on the margin and subject to supply disruption. Wealth destruction will be nearly complete there.

None of that can happen, and what’s more important than charging up your ipod and playing the wii? Gotta nationalize the utilities.

It's not even that Obama is that much of a wordsmyth. It's that democracy or our form of a republic, doesn't work. We are proving out what happens when everobody in the country gets to vote. Consider Marrion Barry.... how does this guy get re-elected?

The framers of our constitution limited who could vote for a reason. One of those restrictions was being a property owner.

Our current form of government will not work in the long haul. Human nature will not permit it to work.
