Remember how during the run up to the election, all the left pundits and talking heads and their compatriots in the Old Media said that no white person would vote for Barack Obama? Well, despite the singular fact that Barack Obama convincingly won the popular vote in a country that sees a majority of its voters are white, the Old Media is still insisting that all southerners are slavery-loving, neo-confederates that are no different than they were in 1860.
For the Washington Post, Robert S. McElvaine is here to tell us in "The Red, the Blue and the Gray" that Barack Obama is "just like Lincoln" in the same way that Lincoln didn't get the south's vote in 1860. Professor McElvaine also intimates that this is because the south is little different than it was in 1860.
Bet you southerners didn't know that you are all still slavers and racists, eh?

Nothing surprising here. You get brownie points in academia for publishing this kind of stuff.
But from a true academic standpoint, this “professor” should not be using his data to hurl insults at white people, but rather to seek explanations. Why might it be that McCain did so well in the south as compared to Oregon?
I don’t know the answer. I don’t know if it is related to race or not. If it is related to race, it is unscientific to assume that it is the fault of inexcusable racism by Race A. It could be something about Race B’s impact on Race A which happens more often in the South than elsewhere.
Southern Scenes I saw that the MSM would never report:
1)A black man and a white man furiously arguing over what bait works best in Lake Moultrie while buying their beer for a day of fishing together.
2) Two good ole boys in a big black, confederate flag draped rear window pickup truck, pulled over and changing the tires on four old, gray haired black women dressed in their Sunday best.
3)a white,South Carolina Gamecock fan in his 60’s, who thought George Rodgers was the best running back ever.
4) Black folk with Strom Thurmond signs in their front yard
5) a black male who was president of the Sons Of the Confederacy chapter in Taylorsville NC
6) getting lunch at a soul food place in Charlotte and being surprised on how many white folks were doing the same
7) how many black folk LOVE country music and nascar
8) my mixed race high school football team in Montgomery Al who were like brothers
....too many oberservation to list.....

What Mr. Tubby doesn’t mention is that the slave holders were democrats. After they were chased out of the south, they re-established their slave-holding plantations in places like Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc.
There is no place more segregated and racist than Northern states, now ruled by the descendants of former slave holders who were kicked out of the south. The Jim Crow segregationists found friendly environs in Woodrow Wilson’s (D-KKK) segregated Washington DC to continue their racist, slave-holding policies.
These purse-swinging, bed-wetting metrosexual democrat slavers will find more than they can handle if they dare come south.
I almost confused this guy with famous early net.kook Robert E. McElwaine. I may owe McElwaine an apology.
The North is more segregated than the south and has more race issues in my opinion. Down here everyone works together, shops together and we live in neighborhoods together. When I used to live up north, “blacks” lived in a particular part of town, up north or the south side.
That’s not the way it is down here, not to my knowledge anyway.
