Now here is a great idea...
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) says that Republicans will cancel the Spendulus bill that extends for the next several years if the GOP is voted back into power in 2010.

Only around $107 billion from the trillion dollar stimulus bill will be spent this year.

Only $107 billion is targeted to be spent on projects this year. The CBO projects that the current recession will be over in 2009 without the stimulus anyway. That means nearly a trillion dollars will be spent in 2010 and beyond on Democratic pet projects. There are even reports the spending is to provide funding for a permanent Democratic patronage system.

It might, if the GOP decided, on a partywide and nationwide basis, that no RINOs would be candidates in the next election -- i.e., that conservative GOP'ers would be the only candidates.

I'm not saying that's going to happen. And even if it were done, there's no 100% guarantee that it would work as hoped. But hell, it sure would be nice to see conservatism tried, just once.

Perhaps it can be gutted to some degree in 2012 after two consecutive major losses in the house, and a new POTUS — but the bill for this fiasco has already been passed on to the next generation.

Here is the deal. Anyone who thinks we can get 67 votes in the senate to overturn the stimulus bill in 2010 is an idiot.

67 votes will require that we go 34 out of 34 in winning senate seats in 2010 and Coleman still has to beat Franken and we need a republican governor in Maine and we need susan collins to die.
