While speaking at the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial in Springfield, Illinois on Thursday, Barack Obama took a shot at Rep. Judd Gregg, who withdrew himself earlier in the day from consideration as the President's secretary of commerce:
"Here in Springfield," Obama said, "it's easier.. to reflect on Lincoln the man, rather than the marble giant, before Gettysburg..., before emancipation was proclaimed.... In 1854 Lincoln was simply a Springfield lawyer who served just a single term in congress, possibly in his law office, his feet on a cluttered desk, his sons playing around him, his clothes a bit too small to fit his uncommon frame -- maybe wondering if somebody might call him up and ask him to be commerce secretary..... “Class will tell.” - Dad
I thought Gregg showed a great deal of class as he recused himself. I wouldn’t expect Obama to return the favor.
I thought that I read yesterday that 0 was calling upon us to do as Lincoln did (was that volunteer or act with dignity?)
Wonder what 0 will have to say upon Washington’s birthday?
(honesty, not telling lies or throwing dollars across a river/away - that would be early sharing the wealth)?
" his clothes a bit too small to fit his uncommon frame"
What?!! Kmart didn't carry Lincoln's size?
That's right, only bambam has tailor made suits because his wife can't sew!
"-- maybe wondering if somebody might call him up and ask him to be commerce secretary"
Trust us bambam when we say that Lincoln DID NOT have to wonder about anything. He was a real man, a real President. A legal one who knew how to respect his position.
Now stop fantasizing and putting down others who have more class in their little finger than there will ever be between you and yer wife put together.
Am I the only one who finds it amusing that Barack “Trust my judgment” Obama has screwed the pooch twice now on picking a Commerce Secretary?
Of course, he’s applying that same level of judgment to the economy, foreign policy, and national security, so maybe “amusing” isn’t the right word to use at all.... :(
Arrogance also comes to mind, as does self-conceit, as does Nero
Gregg WOKE up in Time to SAVE HIMSELF... unlike the 3 STOOGES... CSS!
Obama is 50% white, 50% black, and 100% trash. Spitting on his own potential nominees like that. Even Carter and Clinton didn’t sink that low.
**Obama is 50% white, 50% black, and 100% trash.**
This man is going to set back race relations by 50 years.
How is this a shot at Gregg?
It seems like it could just as easily be a shot at his own botched attempts to find a nominee — i.e. “by the time this is through, everyone will have gotten the call to be commerce secretary”.
Yeah, Barry, I think we can be pretty sure that Lincoln (died: 1865) didn't wonder even once whether anyone would call him up on the telephone (invented: 1876) to ask him to run the Commerce Department (founded: 1903).
50 years? Try 150 years.
You are sooooo right!
As that would have absolutely nothing to do with the point of my post, no.
I have never seen such a trite person. This person will go down in history so badly that It will never be written in history books. Only the elders from time forward will recite this era to our future generations around the community fire while eating wild dog.
Stay classy, “Mr. President”.
